melsdt Posted April 13, 2007 #1 Share Posted April 13, 2007 What is the reason for a free/automatic upgrade? I read so many posts about people getting upgrading to a different cabin category, and I am wondering why RCI does this? Did they accidently overbook a certain category, or cabin? I am just curious because it seems as though they lose money this way.
TEXASMUNK Posted April 13, 2007 #2 Share Posted April 13, 2007 You might be an upgrade if a ship is not full and they want to open up your catagory for additional sales. You might get a one catagory upgrade as part of a special offer. You might get an upgrade as a courtesy if you are a Crown & Anchor member. cb at sea Posted April 13, 2007 #3 Share Posted April 13, 2007 Most upgrades come to those who book guarantees--that gives the cruiseline alot of flexibiliy in assigning cabins. No one really knows how or why an upgrade is bestowed upon a lucky cruiser. Some go to 1st timers--some go to repeat cruisers--there appears to be no rhyme or reason to this practice! If anyone figures it out--let me know!!!!!
melsdt Posted April 14, 2007 Author #4 Share Posted April 14, 2007 I always book guarantees. Do they upgrade after they have assigned the rooms, or is it always before the guaranteed assignment?
