Where to meet sled dogs?

Hi,

 

Can anyone comment on the Helicopter & Dog Sledding tours leaving Juneau or Skagway? It is more of a Helicopter experience than for Dog Sledding?

 

I'll have half a day free in Fairbanks, in which I'll probably have a rental car. Has anyone been to any of the surrounding dog musher kennels and taken any of their tours?

There are several kennel tours in Fairbanks. I've heard good things about Mary Shields tour if it's still going on this year http://www.maryshields.com/. She was the first woman to run the Iditarod. You will also get a dogsledding introduction from Susan Butcher's kennel if you ride the Riverboat Discovery.

Denali Park has a very nice kennel. Also in Ester, Northern Sky Lodge has a kennel along with many many other available options. I did my dog sledding "school" with PAWS.
