retiredldo Posted August 7, 2004 #1 Share Posted August 7, 2004 Hi folks, are there any stores, such as 7/11 supermarkets near the pier, I want to get some water, soda and juice boxes prior to leaving out on the cruise Regards Pete

Budget Queen Posted August 8, 2004 #3 Share Posted August 8, 2004 You can get some items in the Riverwalk- they sell bottled drinks at the food courts but this would be your most costly option. With a walk - along Magazine would have something. If going to the FQ that the street car to Jackson Square- there is Walgreens, but then a hike with heavy packages back to the ship. jgmpuma Posted August 9, 2004 #5 Share Posted August 9, 2004 There is a convenience store at the corner of Julia Street and Convention Center Boulevard, very close to the cruise terminal, and others near the foot of Canal Street, but they are expensive. There is a Walgreen's at 619 Decatur and an A&P in the 700 block of Royal Street, both in the French Quarter. If you don't mind a little walking, you will find a better selection and much better prices at the last two.

I've never noticed a convenience store at Julia and CCBlvd. Guess I wasn't looking for it, huh? Anyhoo, anything in that area would be terribly expensive. And as far as Walgreens and A&P, you're talking about at least a 30 minute walk to the ship, carrying heavy items. If y'all have a car (rental/your own), stop by a regular supermarket before you get anywhere near the port! You know you can get an entire 6-pk. of Cokes for less than ONE will cost on the ship.
Budget Queen Posted August 9, 2004 #7 Share Posted August 9, 2004 YEP- the A&P and Walgreens are a walk and prices there aren't cheap either. :) You'll need the Riverfront Streetcar to Julia then another walk to the ship. Best is a grocery store on the drive in - if going by cab from the airport- perhaps take the local route and stop at a regular grocery??
paul1722 Posted August 19, 2004 #8 Share Posted August 19, 2004 There is a Roberts (roe bears) Market right near the port. This is a full service grocery store with good prices. It is at 1325 Annunciation St link for a map http://maps.yahoo.com/maps_result?ed=HqA7Iup_0Tp842pEUHaptNIJ9oD5G1NMGxDCuEg-&csz=70130&country=us&new=1&name=&qty=
