Hi! Maybe you can settle an argument [well, discussion topic] between myself and DH. I did try searching, but didn't quite get the right numbers. Here is the question, on a cruise out of Galveston in May, would you think there would be more single men or more women? Or maybe about the same? I am cruising in a group of women and some are single. Therefore I am hoping to hear "more men". Age group of interest is 25 to 55, but really any feedback would be great. Could make a difference in what is packed

Hmmm, I've sailed the past 3 May's, and will sail again in three weeks. In my experience, I'd say there will be more single women than men. Then again, this is a hard question to answer, because you just never know who's going to book the cruise. You could end up with an entire Frat full of cutie pies who just graduated and are cruising to celebrate. :D

Beats the heck out of a bunch of big gutted, no butted, bald headed old geezers...in black knees socks, Bermuda shorts, and a Panama hat.

I knew this was not going to be a scientific poll, I had just hoped to get some numbers. No doubt Carnival knows these demographics so they can plan activities. Too bad I don’t know how to hack into their data. I will let this thread die a peaceful death.

Thanks dirtgirl – that was my DH’s thinking.

Stircrzy – we will take what we can get. You pretty well described a fair number of the math/science professors here!

Glama – thanks for the good wishes. From your post to G-d’s ear [to modify an old saying]. Or is there a fairy for this kind of thing....

Yes, she's called "The Hot, Single, Young Frat Boy Fairy", I know she exists, I've seen her work on 2 of my cruises. Gotta love her. :D

NEWSFLASH! Single male 53 sails on the Destiny 5/13/07 fron San Juan, with his 20 year old daughter. Guess who sleeps the most? It would be his 20 year old daughter. He loves to sail solo! Always many more wonderful single ladies aboard. Do they call that a Gold Mine?

Glama - You wouldn't be a "Sylvia" comic fan, would you? That fairy sounds a bit like something in that comic. Perhaps a certain kind of altar or chant will help her along...

psbcap - I believe it! The single scene here is not very good if you are interested in someone over 25. College towns are just that way. I guess I was lucky to find my DH before graduating.

I use to be aware of how many single women there were... but I would always get the look  from my wife, so I cooled it... :D

Believe me Ventureman, you're wife is fully aware of the single guys too, we females just know how to hide it better. ;)

I guess when I am looking I am not thinking single or not as I am always just looking. So I will be hoping for eye candy and if it is single, then that is a plus for my friends. To save some hunting time, where is a good place for looking?

thanks...

I always find that there are more single women than men on cruises. Women tend to go on 'girl's cruises'. You don't find many guys going on 'guy's cruises'. Men go fishing, instead. BORING!!:D

I agree with you!!! We are leaving for our Girls only cruise in 15 days...hehe but of course none of us on this trip are single :p But just like you said our husbands would rather spend the weekend fishing.

There are agencies out there who deal specifically with singles travel (singles cruises) and book as a group.

livtojump - I know, but only 2 of the 6 of us are single. I was just hoping they could meet a single employeed [since he can afford a cruise] man living in the greater Houston area. I was just curious as to what we might expect during a time when there may not be too many families. Thanks to Glama's suggestion, I may drag them to the casino with me in the evening. And the poll is mixed, which means we have a better chance with that fun fairy that Glama mentioned then my DH thought.

My point was...check the sites out. You may have to register to check out the group but you never know who you might find.

I voted for there being more women than men.

The college age guys may book a lot of trips together for spring break/graduation. But after that (the 25/40 yr old group) its seems to me the ladies book more "girls only" cruises and trips.

Like others have said ,the guys tend to do the fishing/hunting/sporting event trips by themselves

And you don't see a problem here?:D

Steve

LOL Steve, I certainly don't see a problem. I'd MUCH rather my husand go to hunting camp with the "guys", then on a single guy cruise where the odds are very high that there are many single ladies looking for them!! ;)

Maybe I'll go buy hubby a new fishing pole or shotgun so he doesn't get any cruising ideas in his head, lol. That, from a girl who's cruised 4 times without him!! I'm horrible... (but, I'm a good girl).

WOW - I guess since my DH doesn't hunt, fish, golf, play cards, drink beer, etc I had forgotten that some guys do that. He is a work-a-holic and if he takes time off, he spends it with his DW [at least if he wants to continue to have a DW]. Looking at how the poll is doing, we will all have to have crossed fingers to have luck for the single third of our party. Or maybe set up an altar to the special fairy. Any suggestions for that?

sigh...
