Short Elation Review

Recommended Posts

We were on the Elation from April 23-28 and had a great time. The ship is very attractive with a beautiful atrium. Some of the public rooms are outstanding such as the Mark Twain Library and the Mikado Lounge. The Mikado is the most comfortable show lounge we have experienced!

We had an Oceanview on the Upper Deck. The cabin was spacious, clean, comfortable, and colorful. The decor is salmon with other accents and white comfort bedding. The bathroom is large compared to some other cruise lines- and was quite adequate with a good sized shower.

The food during this cruise gets an A in the dining room. Tiffany's Buffet is more of a B, but still good. (We liked the early morning coffee availability.) Our waiters were charming and our room steward was very helpful.

The Elation has entertainment for everyone and more! So much going on all the time. Alot of people liked the karaoke.

We enjoyed a walk in town on Grand Turk, cheeseburgers in Paradise at Margaritaville, swimming in the pool and in the ocean at the cruise port, and the hot sun and music. The water temperature was just right for us northeasterners.

Half Moon Cay has a fine swimming area, an extensive beach, and plenty of tours. We did the Eco-Lagoon Tour where we saw sea life from a glass-bottomed boat.

In Nassau, we went to the British Colonial Hilton which is a grand older hotel with charm. Several James Bond movie scenes were filmed there.

We then went to the Pirate's Museum and shopping on Bay St. We did Atlantis last year, so wanted to see some of the city this year.

Over all- the Elation cruise was pleasant and fun. The only concern I noted from some cruisers was the Deck pattern, where you sometimes have to go up to go down! Study the Deck plan and you'll see. I wonder if this Deck pattern is also on other Fantasy class ships????

April: Thanks so much for your review......can you elaborate on the "going up to go down!"

We were once on a ship that did not go straight through from "stem to stern". When we would finish eating in the dining room we had to take the elevator down one deck, in order to go to the evening shows.

Is this the same with the Elation? If so, can you give us some clues on how best to maneuver this ship.

We'll be on her on May 27th.

Yes, they had Bingo. Didn't see anything about line dancing.

As to the Decks- it is Decks 8 & 9 which can be confusing. The elevators are good and there are plenty of stairs, but a person needs to study the map to learn which elevators on 8 & 9 go to which public rooms. You can study the Deck plan on the Carnival website and check out where the elevators are in relation to your cabin.

We were also on the Elation April 23-28. We saw plenty of line dancing on the Lido deck almost every night! They also had a couple of classes but I'm not sure if they were planned of off the cuff.

I think the "go up to go down" means that the galley (no passage) is mid-ship on the promenade deck so to get to the aft dining room you can go up one deck to take the stairs down into the dining room.
