2008 Caribbean and Alaska Itineraries?

 Hi! Does anyone know when Princess is going to release their 2008 Caribbean? I am interested in the S. Caribbean itinerary that the Emerald Princess will be sailing in Fall 2007/Spring 2008 (Ft. Lauderdale, Aruba, Bonaire, Grenada, Dominica, St. Thomas and Princess Cays). Does anyone know if this itinerary will be offered in Summer/Fall 2008, and which ship it will be on?

I am also interested in the 2008 Alaska itineraries on Princess and Holland America (Glacier Bay), but neither have been released yet. Any idea when?

Thanks!

We live in the Seattle area and in our paper today is an ad for a tour and lunch of the Golden June 9th from 10:30 to 2:30. Have they told you guys on this cruise not to embark before 2:30 or 3? Just wondering how they are going to handle it.

I called about this today. The agent was surprised that they only have the 9 day sailings from NY to th carribean up for summer 2008.

She said that they will have the books for that period out by sept 08, and at the very least, they should announce the dates waaay sooner. her advice was to watch the net.

I may have gotten the date wrong for the AK bookings = mid-May sometime.

I've received a cruise newsletter from a TA that states the Tahitian Princess will be doing 14 night AK cruises starting May 29 thru Sept 2008 -- lots of interesting ports never visited on 7 night cruises. This sounds very interesting, but a bit pricey.

There's only one ship doing the Caribbean summer 08'. It's the Caribbean Princess. All the other ships will be in either Alaska or Europe.

Only one ship in the Caribbean in summer 2008? That surprises me ~ from over-saturation to almost no coverage. It will mean the prices will be higher for Caribbean cruises, but the experience will be better with less crowding. But summer isn't really the peak season for the Caribbean.

The Princess press release said May 14th. It wouldn't surprise me if it opens the weekend before.

HAL pulled out of summer cruises. But, the Princess agent said that she'd be shocked if no more ships would be offered. SHe said they would have more ships there and they'd be announced doon and added that last year she personally booked many summer carribean cruises for people and that with princess being so popular there, they won't leave.

I think she is going to be shocked then.:p

This is what has been reported so far for summer 2008.

Caribbean Princess - Caribbean from NY 9 day

Pacific Princess - Europe

Crown Princess - Europe

Royal Princess - Europe

Emerald Princess - Europe

Sea Princess - Europe

Grand Princess - Europe

Coral Princess - Alaska 7 day one way

Sapphire Princess - Alaska 7 day one way

Diamond Princess - Alaska 7 day one way

Island Princess - Alaska 7 day one way

Tahitian Princess - Alaska - 14 day

There are 4 ships that haven't been announced yet.

Dawn Princess - 2007 is doing 10 day to Alaska from SF - 2008????

Regal Princess - 2007 is doing 15 day RT to Hawaii from Los Angeles -2008??

Golden Princess - 2007 -7 day RT to Alaska from Seattle -2008 will probably be doing the same itinerary

Sun Princess - 7 day RT to Alaska from Seattle - 2008 will probably be doing the same itinerary

The Regal is going to be gone soon (this fall?).

My guess is that your guesses as far as next summer will be accurate for the remaining 3 ships.

I really don't blame Princess for not doing the Caribbean during the majority of the Hurricane season. Other lines have choosen not to have ships in the Caribbean at that time also (Celebrity, Hal).

As I recall, Princess offered a lot of promotional goodies to fill Caribbean Princess last summer/fall. Alaska and Europe are much more profitable destinations for the cruise lines.

I believe the Crown Princess in August/September went for $400 for a 9 night cruise. Amazing.

I agree - the profitability in Europe and Alaska makes far more sense.

That doesn't bode well for the people who want to do R/T to Hawaii.

Hope all is well with you and yours.:)

 Not good news! I hope they limit this to a few hundred people, and this doesn't delay our departure. We haven't been told a thing. I think they'll start boarding at the regular time (after the tour and lunch people  ), and continue boarding while the tour is in progress. Then the tour people will get off the ship, and we can finally begin our cruise! :D
