Fewer Benefits for Captain's Club Members

Recommended Posts

Hey C-2-C:

As a fellow Torontonian, I must ask: "What were you doing up at 5:16 am?!"

I always shake my head when you place your postings - I find it absolutely ludicrous that Celebrity treats you the way they do after 50 sailings - and I thought I was po'd after 24!

Frankly, the minimum the company should do is to personally phone you before each cruise and ask if there are any special requests that they can fulfil. One would expect lots of valuable freebies including obc's or complimentary bar set-ups. Unfortunately, the company knows that our options are rather limited - we could switch to Oceania or Regent but the almost double per-diems would probably deter us from "upgrading".

I placed the following posting a couple of months ago when I was particularly annoyed at their loyalty program. I thought I would include it again to (hopefully) give people a laugh.

Thus, I present the up-until-now secret new Captain's Club Awards Program:

Levels of Membership

1 to 5 Cruises - You Came Back?

Complimentary coupon "roll" conveniently attached to chrome fixture in bathroom

1-for-2 cocktail credit - pay for two cocktails but receive only one!

One extra "push" in cabin shower shampoo dispenser (note: excessive use of "quality" shampoo may cause hair loss)

2-to-10 sailings - You Just Don't Get It

One free dinner in specialty restaurant on Galaxy or Mercury

One free towel animal on formal night

Five extra chocolate sprinkles on ice-cream-sort-of-wierd-frozen-yogurty-like-typoid-product

10-to-Whatever Sailings - Perhaps You Should Have Your Head Examined

Priority Embarkation - after 4:00 PM only

Luggage tag with enhanced bar code

Cabin number on door enhanced with hi-liter

Enhanced toilet flush on M-class ships when toilet actually works

Souverir bearing actually used in propulsion system (lots available!)

All Benefits subject to availability

Hey C-2-C:

I must ask: "What were you doing up at 5:16 am?!"

One of the reasons I like to cruise so much is that I get a full night's sleep. At home I frequently wake up at 4 to 4:30 am. I seldom sleep past 6 am.

It must be that longing for the rocking motion in the womb or that cocoon of an inside cabin.:D

I have to say, as much as I recoil in horror at not having a veranda, particularly an aft one, the best sleep I ever had on my cruises was in the inside rooms. No light and no temptation to wake up and see what it's like outside without a major schlep!

Good evening,

Couldn't agree more with your comments to C2C about the treatment ''afforded'' to multi-cruisers. He , and other cruisemates of his, have justifiably deplored the pathetic lack of, at least, acknowledgement of one's loyalty.

It's too bad this, and other shoresides serious shortcomings, is taking away from an otherwise excellent shipboard experience and the top ''bang for the buck'' in the industry.

Happy sailings anyways !!

Cheers

;)
