am57 Posted April 4, 2004 #1 Share Posted April 4, 2004 any feedback on this excursion out of Skagway?
Budget Queen Posted April 5, 2004 #2 Share Posted April 5, 2004 It's a good excursion later in the season. I went the end of August. The floats are much better than the jet boats (went with that first ) Haines is an interesting town too.
bunnybear Posted April 5, 2004 #3 Share Posted April 5, 2004 We went on this excursion in September 2002. It was very enjoyable and we did see lots of eagles. The most memorable part was the guides were so informative and interesting. We really learned alot about the area and the people. We used the RCI's tour. santaharry Posted April 5, 2004 #4 Share Posted April 5, 2004 Check with "Dolly Varden" for the float trip. We did them in 2002 and got very personal service (4 people and 2 guides). They are locals and really try to accomodate you. Also they are considerbly less expensive than the excursions form the ship.

am57 Posted April 7, 2004 Author #6 Share Posted April 7, 2004 BUDGET QUEEN, DO YOU THINK THIS EXCURSION IS TOO EARLY IN THE SEASON TO DO? WE WILL BE ON THE CORAL PRINCESS ON 5/29 SO THE EXCURSION WILL BE I BELIEVE 6/3. WHAT DO YOU THINK?
Budget Queen Posted April 10, 2004 #7 Share Posted April 10, 2004 Yes too early for a lot of eagle sightings- there will be some. Determine what is a priority for you. The float is very scenic.
Katriean Posted April 10, 2004 #8 Share Posted April 10, 2004 Why are the floats much better than the jet boats? Can you tell me more about both excursions? Is there a lot of paddling when you choose the float adventure? How big are the floats? How big are the jeb boats? We were thinking of taking the jet boat adventure because we're getting married in Juneau the day before. We are not sure home much engergy that we will have for Skagway, and our main concern is that we want to take lots of photographs.
Budget Queen Posted April 11, 2004 #9 Share Posted April 11, 2004 The jetboats are loud and just not whole to the natural "Alaska Experience", my opinion only. If you want any chance of seeing wildlife the jet boats are a negative. Go with what fits your situation best- the jet boats do cover more ground.
