Are there Whale watching excursions in Sitka?

We are going to be in Sitka first week of June on Infinity. We were wondering if there are any good whale watching excursions there. I know everyone say to do Capt Larry in Juneau but there is already so much do do in that port. It would be nice if we could break it up a bit and save whale watching for Sitka if feasible.
Thanks

Yes, we did a wonderful whale watching trip (the Sea Otter and Wildlife Quest) a few years back in Sitka and saw lots of whales and harbor seals in Sitka Sound and surrounding area. Check out http://www.sitka.org]. We did the Allen Marine's tour and it was wonderful- very good crew, refreshments, just enough narration and they slowed down for the wildlife, didn't keep to an extremely rigid schedule. Went to Lazaria Island and into lots of little areas around the sound.

 • 1 year later...
It used to be that the humpbacks arrived in Sitka later in the season, but now they are usually around most of the time. But Juneau still has the 100% sightings of humpbacks on the whale watches, out of Sitka maybe 80%???
