Sandy R Posted April 9, 2004 #1 Share Posted April 9, 2004 We'll be sailing on the Diamond in August and cruising Tracy Arm. Haven't heard much about it on the boards. How's the scenery? Thanks for any input... Sandy
Hillbilly Posted April 9, 2004 #2 Share Posted April 9, 2004 Have cruised Tracy Arm all 4 times we've been to Alaska. The scenery is beautiful whether in sunshine or fog. Plan to sit outside bundled up. If the ship can get to the end, you will see a glacier up close. The last trip we went on, there were too many icebergs to get up close, but there was plenty of sights to just sit or lay and ponder.
Budget Queen Posted April 10, 2004 #3 Share Posted April 10, 2004 I have cruised Tracy Arm with Auk Nu and not on a cruiseship. I asked a while ago if you were able to view both glaciers??? One response was only 1? It is a very scenic area and you will have a great treat. As mentioned- the best views are from the front seeing it all- dress appropriately for comfort. mii Posted April 10, 2004 #4 Share Posted April 10, 2004 I will also state that cruising Tracy Arm is really fantastic. As everybody said bundle up, sit outside and enjoy the scenery. It is almost like sailing on a Norwegian fiord. We spotted eagles, all types of bird and the glaciers were great. Make sure you take plenty of pictures.
