Guest Anorak33 Posted May 27, 2007 #1 Share Posted May 27, 2007 I tried a "Cocktail of the Day" - recently on Braemar,in the Coral Club, not something I usually do but it looked an interesting mix of ingredients. I could not taste any booze in it at all. Is this a normal state of affairs on FO ships? When you realise they charge enough for one cocktail to buy a whole bottle of duty free spirits at their cost price it does seem a bit mingy. Or was I just unlucky? Navaleye Posted May 27, 2007 #2 Share Posted May 27, 2007 FO have cut back the size of cocktails on board. The glass is now much smaller, but the price is the same.
mufi Posted May 28, 2007 #3 Share Posted May 28, 2007 All the mixer drinks are very short on spirits. Along with the other obvious signs of penny pinching I wonder if this is good policy. Certainly saves a bit for them, but if it means that a first time passenger does not return??? David.
Aplmac Posted June 1, 2007 #4 Share Posted June 1, 2007 Is it just my imagination? or has Alcohol got very pricey,in the last few years.. I'm talking globally, whether on shore or on cruise-boats? - in bars or in the supermarket? Are the alcohol people "shooting fish in a barrel" these days ? It's not worth the money, and it certainly isn't that expensive a product to manufacture so what's going on?
mufi Posted June 2, 2007 #5 Share Posted June 2, 2007 Can't speak for other locations, but in the UK a big proportion of the price is the tax grabbed by our wonderful Chancellor. However over the years he has frozen the tax on Scotish whiskey so that is probably the cheapest alcohol to imbibe if you just want best value. David. Guest Anorak33 Posted June 17, 2007 #7 Share Posted June 17, 2007 The short answer is yes, however if boarding at Dover I have not experienced any problem. The booze they sell by the bottle on board for cabin consumption is fairly reasonably priced.
