mjmalino Posted June 3, 2007 #1 Share Posted June 3, 2007 Hi, My family is taking our first cruise ever on the Coral on the 18th. Today, my husband went out and purchased a surge protector/power strip to take for use in the cabin. Here's my question (I think that I may have seen this addressed at some point a couple months ago, but I can't find the thread and right now, honestly, my head is spinning): Are the outlets in the cabin 2 or 3 prong? We just purchased a 3 prong and need to know if it will work. Thanks so much for your help!
Fuzzzy Posted June 3, 2007 #2 Share Posted June 3, 2007 I have never seen a 3-prong outlet on a Princess ship. I do know that there never seems to be enough plugs for must folks. Why is that?
captainron Posted June 3, 2007 #3 Share Posted June 3, 2007 Hi, Did a trans canal repo on Coral in "06 and as I recall cabin outlets were 2 prong. I took an extension cord with a ground and...no place to plug in. What with the talk of fires etc on board ships and the increased awareness of same, I'm somewhat surprised that there are no 3 prong grounds on the vessels. Ciao for now!!! LARGIN Posted June 3, 2007 #4 Share Posted June 3, 2007 On the Coral and Island 3 prong outlets are on the wall by the desk.. That is where I plugged my power strip
KreinKrunker Posted June 3, 2007 #5 Share Posted June 3, 2007 Are the outlets in the cabin 2 or 3 prong? We just purchased a 3 prong and need to know if it will work. Our three pronged power strip has worked on the following Princess ships: Crown(old); Ocean; Island; and Coral.

Pam in CA Posted June 3, 2007 #7 Share Posted June 3, 2007 Just in case there's any ambiguity, here's a photo of the outlets by the desk. They are 3-prong:
GloriaF Posted June 3, 2007 #8 Share Posted June 3, 2007 I like to plug in the power strip and place it in the top drawer. It is out of the way and all the chargers and hair equipment can stay out of sight in the drawer. You could always buy a small adapter to take along - just in case the outlets don't fit your plug.
