lorr Posted June 8, 2007 #2 Share Posted June 8, 2007 Folks, was it on Cruise Critic or another site where there was a long talk on smoking or not smoking? Whats the use? We don't need that here anyway. Let's just answer his question  Sorry, I don't know, this will be my first cruise

Rare LHT28 Posted June 9, 2007 #4 Share Posted June 9, 2007 If you do a search here for "smoking" you will find all the answers Each cruiseline is different

Rare Keith1010 Posted June 9, 2007 #7 Share Posted June 9, 2007 Most cruise lines allow smoking in cabins and on the open deck. And, then some allow smoking in selected publich room and or in certain areas of public rooms. Keith
PhoenixCruiser Posted June 9, 2007 #8 Share Posted June 9, 2007 Pretty much the same on RCCL. Tanker 4 Agreed :) Some of the bars on RCI have a smoking section. ###
Maddog Steel Posted June 9, 2007 #9 Share Posted June 9, 2007 If your going to smoke in your room, bring a non-aerosol air freshener (like Oust or Febreeze). Since the ventilation is not the best (especially in a non-balcony room), the room will start to smell like smoke.
travel girl23 Posted June 9, 2007 #10 Share Posted June 9, 2007 On Carnival, smoking is permitted on the starboard side - not on the port side on the open decks. Travelgirl
Cotton Posted June 9, 2007 #11 Share Posted June 9, 2007 Perhaps that varies by ship? On two of my cruises, I definitely remember smoking on the PORT side only.:)
Happy ks Posted June 9, 2007 #12 Share Posted June 9, 2007 :) I don't hate smokers, just their smoke. Just pay attention to the non-smoking signs. The smoking sections will be fairly obvious as there will be ashtrays in that particular area. No ashtrays?, maybe it's a non-smoking area. Thank you for being considerate. eandj Posted June 9, 2007 #13 Share Posted June 9, 2007 You would be most limited on Oceana. No smoking on balconies or rooms. (YAY! Don't have to put up with smoke from our neighbor's balcony. ) Only a Small outside area for smoking. Serious smokers should not even think about Oceana as they enforce the rules strictly. Please, just follow the "rules" and signs. I have nothing against people smoking (their choice) ....just the people smoking in non smoking areas. We non smokers have rights too. :)
tucker1865 Posted June 10, 2007 Author #14 Share Posted June 10, 2007 Thanks for your replies. I am always considerate and do not smoke around others. I do not want to be offending anyone.
newmexicoNita Posted June 10, 2007 #15 Share Posted June 10, 2007 ok, of course this is a subject that will continue to surface every month or so and everyone will put thier 2 cents worth in: First of all let me say I am a smoker, but only when gambling or with other smokers. Other than gambling I smoke a pack every week or two, you can put me into whatever catagory you want. For those who say, bring an room freshener, that isn't necessary. When the smoker exits the cabin it is cleaned and only once did we have a problem. It was on HAL last fall. For some reason the smoke was still apparent when we entered our cabin, but only for the first couple of minutes. Other than a few lines like Oceania most lines have similar smoking rules: Cabins, balconies, a few bars (only certain areas of the bar) the casinos, but some lines are starting to have non smoking nights in the casinos as well and smoking on one side of the ship. None allow smoking in show rooms, dining rooms, hallways, etc. Smokers should have no problems finding a place to light up and non smokers should have no problem escaping the smoke; all can get along fine, regardless of your preferance. travel girl23 Posted June 11, 2007 #16 Share Posted June 11, 2007 As stated in the Carnival Capers for the Carnival Conquest: "Smoking Areas Guests are welcome to smoke in the following areas: Tahiti Casino, Lido Dk - Starboard Side, Vincent's Latour Wine Bar, Blue's Bar and Henry's Disco . . ." Smoking on the starboard side has been allowed on every Carnival ship we have been on. We are nonsmokers so we tend to stay on the port side. Travelgirl. crystalblue0610 Posted June 12, 2007 #17 Share Posted June 12, 2007 Some of those elevators REEK of the smell of smoke it's ridiculous. Makes you think people actually do smoke in them:eek:
gizmo Posted June 12, 2007 #18 Share Posted June 12, 2007 The OP asked a legitmate question. I don't think posting that elevators REEK of smoke has anything to do with the question. Please be considerate.
Cotton Posted June 12, 2007 #19 Share Posted June 12, 2007 Smoking on the starboard side has been allowed on every Carnival ship we have been on. . It was either the Holiday or Sensation......port side. Not to argue, but that's the way it was.:)
blindrid Posted June 12, 2007 #20 Share Posted June 12, 2007 I can't keep track of whether you can or not on port or starboard side. As I am not the brighest star in the sky, if I see an ashtray, that's the side I can smoke on.
LHP Posted June 13, 2007 #21 Share Posted June 13, 2007 Cotton is correct. I have seen it port and starboard on various Carnival ships. The Capers lists all designated smoking areas every day! These areas do not change, they simply list it every day as a reminder. Also outside on the Lido, there is usually a no smoking sign down one side of the walls...which means the other side is smoking! Also, if you do not see ashtrays....then check the other side. Have a great cruise.
PhoenixCruiser Posted June 13, 2007 #22 Share Posted June 13, 2007 I can't keep track of whether you can or not on port or starboard side. As I am not the brightest star in the sky, if I see an ashtray, that's the side I can smoke on. Exactly, it varies from ship to ship, and this includes all cruise lines -- just look for the signs :) ###
