sailaway5 Posted June 11, 2007 #1 Share Posted June 11, 2007 We are going on the Baltic Cruise in July and was just curious if there are a lot of mosquitos out at that time. From Amsterdam, we will travel to Wardemund, Germany, Helsinki, Gdansk, St Petersburg, Tallin, Stockholm, Copenhagen & Oslo. Just want to be prepared with the insect repellent (if necessary). Danish viking Posted June 11, 2007 #2 Share Posted June 11, 2007 it is only a problem if you get out in a park or something but Norway (Oslo) and Sweden (Stockholm) are notorius for mosquitoes, but they are most active in the morning and evening. So if you are visiting vigeland park in Oslo or Skansen in Stockholm then it will be a good idea.

Morgans Posted June 12, 2007 #4 Share Posted June 12, 2007 Found them to be a problem in St. Petersburg (daughter ended up in ship's hospital after being infected by something which nibbled her) but nowhere else.
tiggrrr Posted June 13, 2007 #5 Share Posted June 13, 2007 In Finland, mosquitoes may only be a problem if your take one of the contryside activity tours or the tour to see Santa Claus in Lapland. They are usually on a porblem early morning and late evening though.
sailaway5 Posted June 14, 2007 Author #6 Share Posted June 14, 2007 Thanks to all that replied to my mosquito question. I will be sure to bring my "insect repellent" as we will be visiting some of those places.
