Late June or Early August for northbound Alaska

Recommended Posts

I am in the early planning stages and wonder what the difference would be between a June 28th cruise or an August 9th cruise,is there much difference weather wise, sightseeing, wildlife viewing? Would you recommend one over the other. We will be on northbound sailing Princess Sapphire.

I think we'd like to do dog-sledding on the glacier, whalewatching, and who knows what else. We will be cruising with our 3 children ages 18, 17, and 10. Any suggestions or opinions are more than welcome, I have much learning and research to do. I think we will spend about 4 or 5 days in Alaska post cruise as well.

You will get more salmon viewing if going later, and maybe some lower rates for part of your trip interior also going in August.

Overall, probably makes little difference. :)

Top must do recommended wildlife spots, interior Alaska are Denali Park and Kenai Fjords. Include them for a visit. :)
