Question about back to back cruise

Recommended Posts

We would like to do a cruise back to back, question is what happens when one cruise ends and before start of the next:

  1. Do they ask you to leave and re-enter at the terminal?
  2. Can you leave everything in room or do they ask you to remove everything so stewards can do a cleaning?

Sorry, if anyone has asked this before but I did a search and could not find an answer.

It helps you and the crew if you book the same cabin for both cruises. Be sure to ask for that.

Yes, they have to clean in the morning just like always, and the "turnaround day" procedures depend on where you came from (in or out of the US), and the port of entry (in or out of the US). We did this in Europe and just went to a lounge to show our passports and pick up our new SeaPass cards. Other ports (US, I think) they escort you off and right back on.

Be sure to have your picture taken on your new card, too.

Midway through the first cruise you will receive your new SeaPass cards and information on where to meet on turn around day. Each ship and port is different. On all of the b2b's that we have done, we meet at around 11:00 at a designated location and a staff member from Guest Relations walked us off the ship and through Customs and Immigration, unless C&I boards the ship and you are told to report to the theater. We waited about 15 minutes and then returned inserting our new SeaPass cards and having a new picture taken.

As Peggy said............always try to get the same cabin for both cruises. Saves a lot of running around in the morning.

Breakfast on turn around day is set for those pax that are disembarking.......so no sleeping in and eating late. Breakfast is usually over by 9:00AM. Welcome aboard lunch starts at noon.

Once you have reestablished your SeaPass in the system you are free to leave the ship. However, may I suggest that you take your new Set Sail Passes (you can print those off before you leave home) with you or your cruise docs. At some of the ports, the security people do not have any clue as to what a b2b pax is or a SeaPass Card with the new date on it is, and when returning, they may delay your boarding back on the ship. This happened to us in San Diego several years ago.

Once you do a b2b........you'll be hooked.........I guarantee you!

cruisenfever: did you do this in Barcelona, and recently? That was our turnaround port for our first b2b and we didn't have to get off the ship. Maybe they've changed the procedure since we did ours.

No Peggy, we've never cruised out of Barcelona. We've had to disembark in San Juan, San Diego, San Pedro, and Miami. The most recent being San Pedro last fall.

Maybe the European ports are handled differently.
