Bus instead of taxi

We are a family of 5 and would like to just get off our ship (caribbean princess) and go to 7 mile beach for a couple of hours and then back to the ship.

Were do we go to get on the bus that goes to the beach area? Also, what is the current cost in american dollars and do you just pay the driver with cash?

Thanks so much!

After coming out of the port/tender area, cross the street, turn left, and walk about two blocks (I think the name of the street is Fort St.) , turn right going inland and you should see ahead of you Sr. Frogs on the right hand side of the street. Walk past Sr. Frogs about another block and you will come to a small park on your right and the small library straight in front of you. Cross over to the library. The bus depot is adjacent on the right hand side. (It really just looks like a parking lot.)

Any bus marked WB is bound for West Bay and will drive right past and past 7 Mile Beachy. Cost: $2.50 U.S. per person each way-have the exact amount so you won't get Cayman dollars, coins back.

Just tell the driver when you want to get off.

Going back to the ship, just flag down the bus heading back to Georgetown.

This has become our favorite excursion on Grand Cayman. Taking the bus is a longer process than catching a taxi, but it is more interesting. You may have a difficult time though getting everyone on the same bus. The buses are really vans that hold maybe 12-16 people and the locals may already be occupying most of the bus before you get to the "depot."
