sbwmail Posted June 19, 2007 #1 Share Posted June 19, 2007 My friend...really, not me! Is afraid to ask, so I will...She is thinking about booking a cabin next to lifeboats, and she wondered if they bang into the ship and make noise at night during rough seas? Do they, or are they attached so tightly so that there is no movement of the lifeboats? Anyone have trouble with this?
Toto2Kansas Posted June 19, 2007 #2 Share Posted June 19, 2007 Only problem she might have is that if they are the lifeboats used for tender purposes, she might get a really early wake up on port mornings as they lower them for tendering. But I have never seen a lifeboat move during rough seas, so I would venture to say, the seas won't cause a problem. Short of a hurricane that is (just kidding). Do they, or are they attached so tightly so that there is no movement of the lifeboats? Anyone have trouble with this? We have had a couple of situations where the lifeboat / tender was not secured tightly, and did bang and make noise. A quick call to the purser took care of the problem. They got someone out right away to take care of it. ;)
sbwmail Posted June 19, 2007 Author #5 Share Posted June 19, 2007 That's good to know, and I assume that took care of the problem and there was no more noise! thank you!
margord Posted June 19, 2007 #6 Share Posted June 19, 2007 Never had a problem and we encountered so really rough seas.
jlp20 Posted June 19, 2007 #7 Share Posted June 19, 2007 If the seas are high enough for tenders to move around and make noise, my concerns concerning noise will be somewhere down the list. The closest we have been is a deck directly above the tenders on the Pride. 5 foot seas and never heard them.

wizard-of-roz Posted June 19, 2007 #9 Share Posted June 19, 2007 Don't worry....unless you really are a newby, like we were....many years ago............ Our cabin had an "obstructed view"....who knew....the obstructed view was the life boats used for tendering......boy, did we get an early wake-up call!!!!!! Not only noisey but there were men hanging outside our window ....talk about no privacy!!!!! Careful of those "obstructed views".....you never know what's doing the obstructing!!!!!!

Scooter-n-GB Posted June 19, 2007 #11 Share Posted June 19, 2007 Me thinks, short of mechanical failure of the securing mechanisms, there should be now reason to fear the "LB" deck. DW and I are booked on an Emerald mini for Sept, and have all the faith in the world that, even if we do hear some "noise", it will be quickly dispatched!!:p Least me be kept from me beauty sleep (following many libations :D )...
