We have booked the 11/27/08 Guayaquil to Fort Lauderdale cruise on Royal Princess. The only reason we booked this cruise is because there is supposed to be a tour to the Galapagos Islands available. I can't seem to find any information about the tour. Does anyone have any further information???

We are not on your Cruise; however, we have visited the Galapagos Islands and sailed on the Royal II.

Suggest that either you or your TA contact Princess concerning the Galapagos Tour.

The Galapagos Islands are 600 miles off of the coast of Ecuador.

We flew there from Quito, then boarded a small boat - 16 of us -

to make the Zodiac wet landings on the Islands.

Ecuador is very strict on the number of visitors to the Islands.

A licensed Guide must be with the Tour.

The Royal, in my opinion, is too large to get into the Coves.

And, more importantly, is not equiped for Zodiac landings.

All of the boats that we saw were quite small.

The Xpedition, I think, is the largest ship that visits the Islands;

and, uses Zodiacs for landings.

Using the Tenders is out of the question.

This is booked as cruisetour 7, not just a cruise. The tour part (Galapagos) is for several days before the start of the cruise. It is over by the time you board the Royal Princess.

Check with your T/A (or Princess if you booked that way), but chances are it is sold out by this time. Princess site shows it is sold out.

From the Princess web site:

Galapagos Discovery - Tour 7 5-night Land Tour featuring 2 nights in Quito and a 3-night Galapagos Islands cruise plus a 12-day Guayaquil to Ft. Lauderdale cruise. spacer.gifTravel Sequence: Tour first, then Cruise Ship: Royal Princess Voyage Departure Port: Guayaquil Number of Days: 17 (12 cruise, 5 tour)
