Princess Cay - going back and forth to the ship

I'm wondering how easy/feasible it is to go back and forth between the ship and the beach during the day. Since it's a nice amount of time, I'm thinking my 3 year old might need a break (a nap, even!). Would it be possible to leave the beach, go back to the ship for an hour or two, and then return to the beach? Do you recommend this?
