charliem Posted May 1, 2004 #1 Share Posted May 1, 2004 We will be in Anchorage for a day and a half in late June. We would like to use the half day to see Anchorage and are considering renting a car to do some independent sightseeing by driving part way towards Seward on our full day. Any suggestions for must see sights? Also would like to do some non-guided fishing if possible. Thanks in advance for your suggestions.
cruisingbug Posted May 2, 2004 #2 Share Posted May 2, 2004 Portage Glacier is right off the Seward Highway. You can visit the tourist center and hopefully see the glacier if it's clear enough. Also along the hwy is Alyeska Resort, in Girdwood, where Olympic gold medalist Tommy Moe trained.
Budget Queen Posted May 3, 2004 #3 Share Posted May 3, 2004 Request the visitor guide www.anchorage.net www.sewardak.org Portage glacier is no longer seen unless in a boat. If you are cruising a glacier- then skip it for Exit Glacier hiking instead perhap??
