jer Posted May 6, 2004 #1 Share Posted May 6, 2004 We are planning a leisurely drive between Denali and Anchorage. Can you recommend places to stop along the way and things to do in those places. We're not talking flightseeing, but museums, short hikes and other random things to do. I was figuring we would stop in Talkeetna and do whatever it is one does in Talkeetna. Maybe stop at Elkutna. How are hikes around Eagle River (I read something about a lake with beaver?)? Any other thoughts? We'll be there around August 15 if that affects this. Budget Queen Posted May 7, 2004 #2 Share Posted May 7, 2004 Get a copy of THE MILEPOST. It lists everything along the way. Plenty to see and do. A great trail is Little Coal Creek and Talkeetna is worth the experience. Prepare to stop at what interests you. Eagle River nature center- small admission has well marked trails. Beavers 1/2 way around the Rodak trail, but much more extensive dams in Denali Park. Also good salmon viewing.
