8 day Liberty adventure review

Recommended Posts

Boarded the ship about 10:45 Saturday morning for our 8 day cruise, they only had the earily check in windows open but it wasn't that long of wait, would have been much faster if people would have all the docs, custom forms and ID's ready.

The ship is beautiful it reminded me of gothic with all the rod iron & dark colors.

We had the corner aft, the 2 L shaped & an inside on the port side, was asked at the Pursers desk for the dividers to be opened and it was done within an hour.

Alot of people ask what side of the ship to book their cabin on, It does not matter what side of the ship you are on, all the ports are in a cove and you can see the island from either side of the ship.

We had the late dinner seating, the Maidre'd & Hostess where the best, everynight they would come visit everyone at their tables.

I have to say, the service on the Liberty was the best!!!, the cabin Steward was always making sure we had everything we needed, the Casino manager was at your service, plenty of cocktail servers to be found and if you want a good martini, head to the wine bar, best ones i've ever had.

No soot on our balcony at all, just a few misc suprise items ice cream cones, hats, potato chips, 1 cigar, we were on deck 6 and could hear the club from below but we were in the club and not in our cabin so it did not bother us at all, i would say, if you do go to bed earily, don't book these cabins.

I was suprised to find out there were 900 kids on board, i never saw them, Camp Carnival must have been full at all times.

Formal night was the nicest i have seen, Everyone was talking about how great everyone looked, there were many more tuxes that usual, i don't know if it was because of the longer cruise or just the people last week.

Everywhere you went, including the trivia games, it was anounced that dress code was in effect and no shorts in the dining room, Please wear what you want but i did not see one man without a tie and some sort of jacket on.

entertainment-------The piano/singer in the lobby was great, the disco was fun fun fun with great DJ's (hi guys)!!!!

The singer along the Promenade was not good, I noticed people would scramble whenever he started singing and every song sounded the same.

The casino was not to smokey, you could smell it but not an eye watering situation. My big win was $40 at the 1 cent machine (yes i'm cheap) and $190 at the texas holdum electronic table but alas, i was playing with someone elses card so they are the ones who reallly won the money. Nealthedeal tryed to teach me how to play Craps, the only part i understood at the end is how to roll the dice.

Food------The dining room was about the same as usual, the buffet was a little better than usual, fish N chips, deli & sushi were great as usual.

The last cruise i took on the Valor, i did not like the pizza but the pizza on the Liberty was yummy, or could it have been that i was eating it at 4 in the morning and anything tasted good at that point;)

room service in the morning was very fast, afternoon very slow, about a 45 minute wait.

I didn't go to any of the shows because i have seen them all, all ready.

our Cruise Critic group was like family, we all met the first day and everynight after that, we had a great time together.

I would go on the Liberty again in a heart beat but i would have to bring my CC group along with me:)

I know i have probably left out all kinds of things out so let me know if you need to know specifics about the ports.

Great review! Thanks we will be on her August of 08! I can't wait!

What was your cabin like? I have a 9A wrap around on the 7th deck and wondered how you liked your wrap around?

Do they have laundry facilities on every floor? Are they very noisy? Thanks! icon14.gif

I have become an aft junky, i booked my first aft years ago and now can't cruise without it.

We were on deck 6, all 3 of the afts are shaped a little different, we had a convertable sofa, yours will just have 2 beds that convert into a king but they are all larger than a regular cabin or atleast layed out to look that way.

Your deck will be very quiet with no noise from above or below.

I don't use the laundry rooms alot so i don't know where they are located on each deck.

I've seen your Cruise Critic list..........you guys are going to have a fantastic time, it's a great ship to have a BIG party on.

I know, we are really excited!! Really great group this year... and once again, we have all AFT cabins on one deck booked, with the exception of ONE! LOL! That poor, poor cruiser :p I'm really looking forward to this one... moreso that many in the past, primarily for the itinerary... but I understand the ship is really nice too! If you guys get a itch to go again in October, you know where we'll be :D

It ended up that our CC group had a line of afts.....6442, 6450, 6452, 6458, 6487, 6489 & a few inside cabins on the port side.

Just do what we did, whenever we were making noise or having a deck party, we just invited the neighbor in the middle LOL!

Glad you had a great time. We are going on the Liberty in December. Did you go to the Supper club??? How was the Fish and Chips place???

Dan and Miguel

Fish and chips was great, my favorite is the fried clams.

I did not go to the supper club but a few members of our group did and all said it was the best meal they had ever had, everything was perfect.

Great review . We're going on The Liberty on Nov.4/07. We then get off and transfer to Miami to get on RCCL Liberty of the Seas. My question is about laundry . I know that you said you didn't do any while on the ship - but did you happen to notice if they offered a service of doing as much as you could stuff in a bag , for a nominal fee [ around the second last day of the cruise??

My sister did this on our last cruise and they did everything for $9.99! It was great for her to come home to 2 toddlers and not have to do a pile of laundry. For us , we would like to just pack 1 weeks worth of clothing- have it all washed and refreshed and then have it for the next weeks cruise.

Great review CD....How was the Piano Bar ?????

Can't wait to go with all these crazies in October.......:D

Honestly not to full so i never even walked all the way inside.

Lots of people hung out at the lobby bar after the second night, when they found out how good the piano guy was.

.

Yes, they anounced a bag laundry special but i did not pay attention to how much it was.

We pulled in next to Liberty of the seas in San Juan, i think our ship was just as long or maybe even a little longer but she towered over us, made our huge ship look small.

Thanks so much as well. What did you love about the ship? I JUST WANT TO HEAR EVERYTHING!!:o

I loved the very calm interior, very gothic.

The staff was the friendliest i have come across on any Carnival ship.

The service was very fast, i saw staff, i have never even seen before on other ships.

Everyone was trying to keep the cruisers happy.

Our dinner took longer to be served one night and without a word the hostess brought us a bottle of champagne for the wait.

Was the slide open prior to leaving the port? Was your DJ Eddie? What type of music did he play?

Thank you

The waterslide was not open until the second day.

Eddy & Brent were the DJ's, they were lots of fun, we all hung out in Nassau together.

They played lots of remixes but would play just about anything you would request, i think it had to do with the crowd in the disco each night.

When us older folks showed up, the music would change.

They did do an 80's night that was lots of fun but there were complaints from the younger crowd (oh well)

Thanks so much for your review. It sounds like you had a great time with the people you met on the roll call. We have a pretty active roll call going for our Liberty 1/05 cruise. Can you suggest a place and time that we could all meet on this ship? Thanks in advance for your reply.
