Just off Legend

Recommended Posts

Thanks for the post. Sorry to hear about your luggage but glad you enjoyed the Legend. I was on her Maiden voyage May 1995, out of Miami thru the Panama Canal years ago and have very fond memories of her. She sure has come along way and apparantly still a very nice ship to sail on.

Take care.

Dave

Yes, we were on the same cruise a year after her maiden...it was one of the biggest ships at that time..She still has a lot of life!

Do they really know where it is? Or is it lost :(

I see you are from Northern Michigan...I went to Northern. Well according to them they found one, it matched exactly, it was on a plane Sat. night to Newark and then nothing...the other one is still missing. My friend who was on a cruise before mine, didn't have any luggage the entire time...one month later she decided she had nothing to lose, went to the airport, and there in the office was her bag...She hugged everyone in the office and walked out with it, having signed nothing... makes me feel like my bag is secure NOT!

I have been dealing with some "bigwig" at Virgin Atlantic, and I am hoping that she has some success. Everytime I go to reach for something its missing, not to mention brand new suitcases. I am a reasonable person, but this is just not a reasonable situation.

Thank you for taking the time to write your review. We are on the LOS two weeks from tomorrow! We also have a JS Aft (8084) and are wondering if you encountered much of a problem from soot? Is there a place to get coffee in the morning from the Solarium?

Usually sea days in the Caribbean can be chilly due to the speed the ship is making as it sails down to San Juan or St. Thomas, etc. Is it similar in the Med?

So sorry to hear about your luggage. There has been a lot of media attention to this mess lately. Apparently an offiical inquiry has be launched in Italy.

Sounds like you had a terrific seats on your Virgin Air flights. :)

I know you were not asking me this question, but, I thought I would tell you about our experience with our aft cabin on deck 6. We did have some soot. It was barely noticable but there were small specks on the table and chairs a couple times. We noticed an accumulation on the flat structural part of the ship adjoining our deck as well. My DH did notice his feet got dirty when he walked barefoot onto the balcony.

That said, it was really minimal and it would not keep me from choosing an aft cabin again. Our cabin attendant left us pool towels to put on the chairs if needed. To be honest with you this cruise was so busy and hot that we either did not have much time for our first aft cabin or we just wanted to soak up as much of the nice cold cruiseship AC as was possible :p after hot, hot, hot days in port. On this cruise we spent the least amount of time on our balcony of all of our cruises ... by far.

We also heard/experienced a little more rumbles and vibrations than we have experienced in regular balconies, especially when we were coming into port. Again, it was nothing that was any big deal.

As to whether it can be cool on the balcony: you won't experience much (if any) breeze on an aft balcony. It stayed a bit hot out there.

Hi,

We were in aft 8578 and we did not have any encounter with soot, but there was a mild smell a few mornings in a row in the hallway.. The Solarium has a continental breakfast and they had coffee, tea hot chocolate.etc. We were in the middle of a heat wave so it was never chilly...There was one evening when we did our walk on the jogging track, where I had a light sweater on, <sigh> another piece of clothes missing, and I was comfortable. There were a couple of nights on the ship where I was chilly in the show and dining room...

Enjoy your trip..If you see my luggage say hi, and tell it to come home!

Rhonda... that totally sucks!!! I am sorry that you have ended your vacation this way. Good luck on finding it!

Thanks I can't imagine all my things being lost forever..Work starts again in a couple of weeks, and many of my skirts and tops are among the missing! I guess after seeing a EF2 tornado go through Brooklyn on the news, anything is possible!

Hi - I thought you had read my review of our Legend cruise - we had JS 8086 - no soot [aprt from a tiny spot one day ] - and we made great use of the 'secret staircase' up to the solarium to get food and drink all day! Loved it and would book again in a flash!

Thanks for the review Rhonda. We are heading on the Transatlantic in March and I was interested in reading some reviews.

One question, silly one, Did the Legend of the Seas have all you can eat ice cream, soft serve, 24hrs?

I can't eat icecream...I am not sure if it was 24 hours but there was a soft serve machine out by the pool.

Little Britian, I seemed to have missed your review or am having a "senior moment". Anyway I am going to check it out right now.

Many thanks

Question on the Junior Suites on the Legend... Can you tell me if there was a normal size table on the balcony... one high enough to eat breakfast on?

Thanks:)

No it is quite low - but we certainly managed to have breakfast on it almost every day!

Drat! :p

I was hoping it had something to do with the cabin category and Platinum status. We are still two cruises away from Diamond level.

Hi - We upgraded just yesterday from an aft D1 to an aft JS for our TA in December - 8082. Could you tell me what the benefits are of having a JS on Legend.

Your pictures of Venice are wonderful. Brought back so many memories and got us even more excited (if that's possible) about out first aft cabin.

Thanks very much.

Hello,

Enjoyed our day at sea...since our last port is Naples and we have an all day tour, I packed today... but still had plenty of time to do other activities. I attended the Secrets to a flat stomach, which ended up to be a hard sell for toxcity products. I won several times in the Casino...we had to buy a camera, ours died, and I am happy to say the prices were extremely fair..played Bingo and won...Its a good day!

Was this the poolside Bingo on the second sea day?? So you're the one who beat us!! :( We had two cards waiting for one number each for about the last 4 numbers called! Oh well, congratulations! We still had fun...

We loved the cruise!! We thought everything was great!! Being our first cruise, we have nothing to compare it to, but were very satisfied with the ship, cabin, food, crew, kids activities, etc. My kids are endlessly bugging me to book the Greece/Turkey/Egypt itinerary of the Legend for next year. We're trying to wait until 2009, but I'm not sure that we can!! However, it appears that all the balcony cabins are already sold out for summer 2008, and we really liked our connecting balcony cabins...
