Platinum-Blackjack or Slot Tournament entry

I will be platinum next cruise & I have seen mention of both blackjack & slot tournament entry as one of the perks. Does anyone know which it is on the Paradise & how do you go about entering - do you just show up with your platinum sail & sign? Also, last 4 day we were on in April the casino was no smoking. Anyone know if it's still that way?(I believe 3 day was still smoking).

It is which ever one you choose...Just go to the cashier and show your card they will have a list with your name on it...:) ...Not sure about smoking in the casino...

Thanks! That helps. I don't know how to play blackjack, but love the slots.

See the casino cashier and they will give you an entry. It is the same entry card as if you paid $20 for one. On my cruise Jan 29th, I made the final table. On the 7th hand, it was down to me and one other gentleman. All I had to do was have a winning hand and him a losing one. It ended up being the other way around and he won the $500 and I got a hat, bag, and deck of cards. Everyone who makes the final table gets a t-shirt.

Just a side bit of information. The same list that the casino uses to "check off your name" when they give you your free entry card, is the list that has all the names of the Platinum cruisers on your cruise, as well as the number of cruises they have been on. Just kinda neat to look at.

Also neat is that it goes to all the Dept Heads onboard the ship. Mel on the Holiday said she saw our names on it when we sailed in January and said to herself, "They are back again!, they were just here last month."

Since I don't gamble, and dh has one fewer cruise under his belt, could I get the entry ticket and pass it along to dh when I make it to platinum next year?

Since it is the same entry card as those who are purchasing them, I dont see why you couldnt. The only time you could not is if the person who is platinum is under age as they would not be able to get the entry ticket.

That is cool! I've been on the Paradise 4 times in the last year, & have 2 more booked, so it will be nice to be recognized, at least on paper.

My funniest incident was as I was going down the gangway to the Holiday this past January, the security officer (Roland) yelled to me, "WELCOME BACK, Mr. DAVID" before I was even on the ship.

They wouldn't let someone in our group give their card to anyone else on Fantasy in January.

To the OP: You can use the free entry only one time for either tournament.

LHP...the same thing happened to us and our 2 platinum under 18(at the time) boys.We sent an e-mail to guest relations suggesting that the under 18 platinum cruisers get $20 in arcade tokens or somthing. I also fussed about only getting one platinum cabin gift...but thats a whole other topic.

Oh it gets better. I was on the Fantasy Jan 18th. This was the weekend where the Saints played the Bears in the playoffs. People were tailgating in the Universe Lounge and reserving places at 8am. The game gets going and everyone was having a great time. Because it was the last seaday, you could get liquor from the gift shop and bring to the lounge. Needless to say, I had too much to drink and went back to the cabin to get a nap.

About 5pm I get a phone call. I picked up and groggily said

Hello?

Mr. Thomas?

Yes.

This is Jimmy from Security.

How are you Jimmy?

We were just checking on you as we have not seen you about the ship today. Are you okay?

Yes, Jimmy. I was watching the game and came to take a nap. I will see y'all later tonight.

It always pays to get to know the security officers.:p Actually Jimmy's neighbor in the Philippines is a security officer on the Holiday.

Actually, it's not the same card. The Platinum perks card says Complimentary on it. The one you purchase says $20 instead. If you get your comp card from the cashier, then your DH could give it to the host and probably not have an issue.

They must have changed them. Mine on the Holiday didnt have Complimentary on them. The cashier gave me the same one for my comp as the one I paid $20 for.

As with anything on Carnival, it probably varies ship to ship. I've had the Comp cards on the Celebration and the Victory. I'll let you know about the Sensation when I get back!:D
