Flag States and Maritime Law

Would anybody know where to find a copy of maritime law? I've been googling for about an hour and can't find it! Specifically I'm after Dutch maritime law (in english though please!) so I can find out what the dutch-flagged ships are supposed to do compared to what they actually do!

 

Any help would be much appreciated!

Hmm...... interesting request.

 

How about trying a google search for Dutch Maritime Society? Maybe if you find a contact there, they could help?

 

Or ask a Dutch Captain?

Thanks 7seas, I'd tried just about every variant of dutch, maritime, law, agreement, netherlands, admiralty etc... never thought of society!

I did find something, that I think applies, through ilo.org

 

Otherwise, I'll just wait until I board and hassle the head honchos!

Just for sake of aurgument, what to you get if you Google United States Maritime Law????

 

 

Perhaps you need to find a door into the county's on-line laws....if they are on line.......

 

Google "county" law .... or code ....

 

then again .... maritime law only applies in the territorial waters of the country in question...or on their flagged ships. many of the 'rules' observed today are not due to codified laws, but the stated intention of a flag state to observe SOLAs recommentations....thereby subject to their ability to enforce either.
