Per the cruise director Dennis:

- There will be balconies on the promenade rooms on the Genesis.

- RCCL is not giving up on their smaller ships, however, he didn't say new ones would be built. Ships last approximately 40 years.

- A Freedom class ship will probably replace the Mariner at Port Canaveral. They are not giving up on Port Canaveral.

- Two of the stops mentioned on the repositioning of the Mariner will be Rio de Janeiro and Cape Town, South Africa.

And the last one (Cape Town, South Africa) should tell you all you need to know about the reliability of that source of information. LOL

Also not sure that there are many cruiseships still in operation which were introduced in 1967. Any that are, are probably in their third or fourth iterations with different names and operated by small cruiselines out of distant foreign ports. Nowadays, the public labels anything built before 2000 as "old".

Hi, Kim!

We too enjoyed the Meet and Mingle and thought Dennis did an excellent job for the entire cruise! Sorry there are always those who love to doubt reports and assail the reporters :p but I am here to back you up - Dennis did indeed indicate that cruise ships last about 40 years.
