When and why did the Pacific Sun lose it's winged funnel? It looks very strange in these earlier promotional photos.

Does anyone know? (look arxcards, I have mastered the photos :p )

You have done verrrrry well grasshopper!

I think the photo may be an airbrushed Carnival Jubilee. Didn't the stern also get boxed in - it looks very shapely in this pic.

Similar promo photo to the airbrushed Regal Princess that is currently parading as the future Pacific Dawn.

P&O’s Pacific Sun (previously Carnival Cruises M/S Jubilee built in 1986) is currently based in Sydney.

Prior to Pacific Sun’s relocation to Australia she received a multi-million dollar refit giving her a bright new interior and exterior look what is known as being “Australianised.” Externally she received the same paintwork as past P&O ship Pacific Sky, featuring a broad blue and yellow bands with a golden sun painted on her forward superstructure. In addition her funnel has lost her Carnival winged funnel, which now looks more streamlined.

Internally, she has an excellent range of lounges, bars, and dinning options. Including the two deck high Atlantis Showroom which is bound to impress.

Hope this helps

Geoff

It's a shame they took off the Carnival 'wings' when they coverted Jubilee to Pacific Star - the funnel looks really strange without it.

It's a shame they didn't 'Australianís' the interior a bit more. Although I've never been to Las Vegas - I certainly came of Pacific Sun with the impression that the show lounge in particular, could easily have come straight from one of these casino's.
