houston-galveston transportation

Can anyone recommend reasonably priced transportation from Houston to Galveston? Everything I have been able to find on-line is about $125.00 each way - yikes!

They offer towncar and limos from Hobby to Galveston for flat rate of $90 per person roundtrip. I thought this was on high side, but am CONSiDERING using them as it sounds so convenient for them to MEET you and take you right on without having to wait for a bus to fill and then go...And same when you get off the ship...There are others available that offer shared rides. Galveston Limousine service to name one. Armani's # is 281-914-7340. Ask for Reginald.

We (4 of us) just returned from the Elation and rented cars one way from IAH to Galveston and back on our return. It ended up costing $175 total for a premium class car, which is about $20 each less than taking the Carnival shuttle. We rented through Enterprise, but Hertz also does one way rentals. Just a warning, Enterprise offers a free shuttle to and from the cruise ship, but they are very disorganized and we ended up waiting about an hour for a ride to the office on our return. I liked the freedom of having our own car, but not sure the hassle is worth it.

 

Another option is http://galvestonlimousineservice.com/index.html they offer shuttle service for less than Carnival.

Extreme eleagance has a less than stellar reputation on this and other boards I have read.Many complaints of being left,no return pick-up and being very late..just a caution.

That is dirt cheap! What do you ride in, one of those bikes that pull a cart behind it?
