hagerpeople Posted September 2, 2007 #1 Share Posted September 2, 2007 I plan on waiting until we arrive in Florida to buy my film, but do I have to be worried about my carry on being xrayed before I board the ship? Thanks
seagoer55 Posted September 2, 2007 #2 Share Posted September 2, 2007 Your carryon will go thru a scanner at the port just like you go thru at the airport. They are not as "strong" as the ones used to scan your regular luggage at the airports so you won't have a problem with your film. I am a film person myself & have never had any trouble... katiel53 Posted September 2, 2007 #3 Share Posted September 2, 2007 We haven't had any trouble with film in the scanners at the port either. Although they might not be strong, they do pick up alcohol in the carry-ons. I am not saying that you are bringing alcohol, but the scanners can see what's in the bag. I would think if you are worried you could ask the film to be hand scanned. I have 2 artificial knees and they hand scan me with the wand every time, so I don't see why someone couldn't do that for your film. Good luck and enjoy. megr1125 Posted September 2, 2007 #4 Share Posted September 2, 2007 Unless you have REALLY fast film, like over ASA 1000 or 1600 you will be OK!!
marcel8004 Posted September 3, 2007 #5 Share Posted September 3, 2007 Your film is not that sensitive to x-ray. Obviously it is very sensitive to light. Even x-ray film is 90% more sensitive to light as opposed to x-rays. You won't have a problem.
