Robroy Posted September 5, 2007 #1 Share Posted September 5, 2007 We're on the Voyageur December 7th and are considering either this tour or the ocean racing. Has anyone done either/both - any recommendations? My wife is susceptible to seasickness but bonine usually does the trick. Thanks! Rob
Sunsailor Posted September 9, 2007 #2 Share Posted September 9, 2007 Hi Rob, We are on the Voyager sailing November 30....however, we did the Ocean racing last year on Princess (Voyager cruise was cancelled) and it was the highlight of our cruise. We did it in St. Marten but it's the same group. We raced the Stars and Stripes against True North and it was exciting, heart-stopping and incredibly hard work. It is an unforgettable experience. Your wife won't have time to be seasick. After choosing teams you are taken out to the racing sailboats. Positions are assigned and the professional crew spends a few minutes instructing you on how to do your job. You tack out to the start and you're off! Two and a half times around the course, tacking at incredible angles, trying to stay upright, water crashing over the bow - it's just great! Do it! Wendy The Wanderer Posted September 9, 2007 #3 Share Posted September 9, 2007 I'm 90% sure it was the Calypso we did last December. It was really nice. Catamarans are, by their nature, very stable, so I wouldn't worry too much about seasickness. It took us to Honeymoon Bay in St. John for snorkelling, and it was lovely.
