If we check a suitcase in do they search it? I was wanting to bring some alcohol but I wont if they search them.

They will x-ray the suitcase. Any tell tale shapes will cause them to hold your luggage; it won't be delivered to your cabin. Then you will be asked to go pick it up. When you get there, you will have to unpack it in front of everyone, remove the alcohol & sign it over to them. They give it back the last night.

Or, they won't spot it and will deliver your bag directly to your cabin.

 

There is just no telling.

NCL in particular is pretty vigilant about xraying luggage and holding it in the "naughty room" until you come down and open it.
