George W. Bush Posted September 15, 2007 #1 Share Posted September 15, 2007 Hello, I booked a sea-turtle excursion through Holland America for $59 . . . but I'm wondering if I can get a better deal myself. Has anyone had good experience with a private operator?

Has anyone had good experience with a private operator? Dear Mr. President, It'll be our great honour and privilege to have you on the island, if only briefly for the day! Suggest you contact the local Embassy of the United States of America and have them wangle you a better deal. PBX number is (246)-436-4950 Consulate number is (246)-431-0225 or you might email them at consularbridge2@state.gov I'm sure they can fix you up with something cheaper than that! God knows you need the money, man! ________________________________________________

Rustynail Posted September 17, 2007 #4 Share Posted September 17, 2007 Mr. President, Sir.... $59.00 is a good deal. Actually $59.00 is too good a deal in my opinion. We chose to book the Silver Moon because the boat was limited to 12 people. We saw many boats carrying numbers in the area of 50+ people which I'm sure didn't make for an intimate experience. barbados is beautiful so I'm sure you'll have a great time regardless. vincent Posted September 26, 2007 #5 Share Posted September 26, 2007 What will your cost be per person for Silver Moon? for how many hours? Thanks for your help : )
tada Posted September 26, 2007 #6 Share Posted September 26, 2007 The cost for a 12 person cruise is $110. There is only one catamaran, but it is limited to 12 people. We just took this tour, and it was the best experience I had on the Southern Caribbean cruise. The water is crystal clear. I have pictures of turtles, 5 ft long tarpons, and a cool shipwreck. The operation is first class. Drinks, food, equipment, and training is all included. We saw the cruise line booked catamarans, and they had 45 people on board. When they got into the water, the turtles seemed to leave. Too many people. I cannot recommend SilverMoon enough. MaineCoon Posted September 26, 2007 #7 Share Posted September 26, 2007 We did the Silver Moon Catamaran cruise a few years ago and it was wonderful! You can't go wrong with them.

It's only recently that this feed-the-turtles stuff has been happening. Prior to this it was more like let's-eat-the-turtles.. and any time I ever met up with turtles while scuba-diving, they recognised the human form as Danger! and took off like a rocket! With that many people in the water all at once, it's easy to see how a few juvenile turtles could get spooked. - numerically disadvantaged! If you were a teenage turtle, wouldn't you be spooked? Not me, man. I was snorkeling Punta Sur at Coz. About ten feet below me was a small, maybe 6 inches across, turtle resting on the coral. I stopped to stare. He apparently took offense because he shot up straight for my mask. That little sucker attacked me! You're so right about the large groups. Many of them don't even remove their fins!!! I went with Silver Moon last time and I just booked with them again for February.

You must've pixxed him off BigTime! ____________________________________
