frednsb Posted September 21, 2008 #2201 Share Posted September 21, 2008 We are Fred and Jenn and we just got off the Carnival Glory last weekend. It was my best out of many cruises. But now I am looking at the Miracle and its southern three Saints cruise in either Dec. or Jan. The ship looks good and your reviews are great, but will we be happy going from a balcony on a Conquest class to a balcony on a Spirit class???? We have sailed on the Fantasy and the Inspiration. Help me! fred
bmull67 Posted September 21, 2008 #2202 Share Posted September 21, 2008 We are sailing on the 9/30 cruise and have a few questions. We appreciate any help the "experienced" Miracle cruisers can supply. We are in an 8D room on the Empress deck. I see that the staterooms have a hair dryer. Is there also an iron and ironing board in the room or available? Also, given the time of the year and that it could be cool in NYC at that time, is it necessary to bring a lot of cool weather clothes or will the ship be in a warmer climate soon enough to just tough it fot for the first day or so? MrPete Posted September 21, 2008 #2203 Share Posted September 21, 2008 There are launderettes with washers, dryers, irons, and boards. There is also a pressing service, reasonably priced.

Help me! fred I haven't been in a balcony on a Conquest class. I did go from a balcony on Miracle to an inside on Glory and I was perfectly happy. Our Miracle & Glory cruises had only 2 sea days, and I don't think that's enough to justify the extra expense. I'm not a balcony snob. If having an inside means I can sail more often, then that's just fine with me. The "standard" balcony cabin on Spirit-class ships is the usual 185 sq ft. You have a choice of either the regular (40 sq ft) or the extended balcony (60 sq ft). We were in 7192, an extended. While it was nice to have a little extra legroom, I wasn't crazy about overlooking the lifeboats. I had decided that next time, I'd just get a regular balcony and save the few bucks for drinks. But I've booked an aft for next time. I'm ok with spending those extra few bucks to get the aft with 4 sea days.

NCTribeFan Posted September 23, 2008 #2208 Share Posted September 23, 2008 Brandy, The first thing I did after booking the 12/14/09 sailing was go find your review for that itinerary. I'd forgotten what sort of excursions you'd done in Panama and CR. It was great to go back and re-read that thread. You guys doing "The Saints" this time? Our Roll Call from last December's sailing is still active. It's why I booked for NEXT December! I'm still trying to figure how I can possibly manage to squeeze in two more cruises between Fascination this December and Miracle next December so I'll be PLATINUM by then! LikeTJ Posted September 29, 2008 #2209 Share Posted September 29, 2008 Anyone know if the Miracle will be in dry dock anytime soon?
DONDON55 Posted September 29, 2008 #2210 Share Posted September 29, 2008 We recently sailed on the Miracle, Sept 14th sailing out of NYC. We had two wonderful waiters in the dining room, Iputu and Arturo. We had the most delightful cocktail waitress, Phatta, she is from Thailand. My question is does anyone know how to contact cruise employees by email? My daughters meant to get her email before we left but they never did. Phatta works in the dining room for both seatings, then she moves to Frankie and Johnnies and works there till closing. If anyone on the Miracle now or the next sailing meets her, please tell he Gary and the girls say "Oh Yeah, Oh Yeah" she will know immediately who we are. My husband has a very deep voice and "Oh yeah" is his signature line when he likes something. She got the biggest kick out of him and everywhere we bumped into her, we would hear her cute little voice say " Oh yeah, Oh Year Mr Gary". Please get her email address or you can give her mine. We would love to keep in contact with her............ Thanks......The Richardsons, Foxboro MA

Mich6674 Posted September 29, 2008 #2212 Share Posted September 29, 2008 I know the Miracle does not have a Seaside Theater, but can anybody tell me do they show movies anywhere else besides the cabins?
DONDON55 Posted September 29, 2008 #2213 Share Posted September 29, 2008 they did show some movies in the Mad Hatters Lounge....... I can check my Capers later today and let you know exactly what movies, times, and days. donna
scrapsoflife Posted September 29, 2008 #2214 Share Posted September 29, 2008 So glad to find such a positive thread about the Miracle, here! Still in triple digits til departure (sigh...) but really looking forward to it (Jan.16, 2009, Western Caribbean). It will be my 2nd cruise and my boyfriend's first. Did anyone else pick the ship specifically because of the theming? (We're both avid readers and I'm a webcomic artist, so it's going to be fun to hide and seek the various characters spread throughout the ships.) And does anyone know what deck/room area the drawing of Hercule Poirot is on (I heard he was in one of the hallway murals)?
NCTribeFan Posted September 29, 2008 #2215 Share Posted September 29, 2008 They may have the same wall murals on all decks. Not sure. I know Hercule was on Verandah. Have a pic of DD standing in front of one of the characters, but it isn't in my Webshots album. I must've decided it wasn't very good and didn't put it online. Not a fan of Farcus, myself. No way do I pick a ship for the theme. I pick based on itinerary, price, then ship. Ship is really only a method of transportation for me. Still, given a choice, I'll take a Spirit-class ship. I just really loved the layout and the feel to the Miracle. Did not like the decor so much.
LikeTJ Posted September 30, 2008 #2216 Share Posted September 30, 2008 Oh, it was dry docked last year. What about the so called propulsion problem. I wonder if they are ever going to address that? We just got back and love it.
robinlbe Posted October 1, 2008 #2217 Share Posted October 1, 2008 Our family of five just recently returned from our first ever cruise aboard the Legend..... we all absolutely loved, loved, LOVED it.........I can't imagine anything could be better. Now, my mom and I are planning a cruise just for the two of us. She has been on other cruises, but never on Carnival. From everyone's description, the Miracle sounds nearly identical (other than decor) to the Legend.... My questions....will I find this boring to be so much like the Legend? Will I be equally impressed with the Miracle? Will my soon-to-be 74 y.o. mom like it??? We're hoping to do the Panama, Costa Rica, Belize, and four days a sea trip...... thoughts??? Thanks in advance!!
NCTribeFan Posted October 15, 2008 #2218 Share Posted October 15, 2008 I was going to do the Legend this past spring but booked Glory instead because I was planning on driving and it's a little bit easier getting to Port C than Tampa. And although I loved the Miracle, I was ready to try the Glory. I'm booked for December 2009 on the Western itinerary. Can't wait to sail Miracle again. Wasn't crazy about the decor, but I really don't pay that much attention. The dining room is hideous, though. Honestly. Doesn't keep me from enjoying my meals, though! In case people aren't aware, the Miracle's cabin classes have now been recategorized, as expected. I called to make final payment on my Fascination cruise yesterday and had my PVP move my Miracle booking from Deck 5 to Deck 4. I'd been obsessing that there would be TOO much sun on that aft deck 5 balcony. So now I get to worry that there won't be ENOUGH sun on the aft deck 4 balcony! I think I'll probably manage just fine. Anyway, my res is now marked as an "upgrade" from 8C to 8I and the cabin is showing as $60 more pp than when I booked a month ago. Probably won't be seeing price drops on that one for about a year, if then! Since there's only a handful of those aft Cat 8 cabins, I imagine they'll be in high demand and there will be no reason for them to drop prices. Of course, I've hever had a price drop ever until this upcoming Fascination (which was already a great low price to begin with).
jspirit Posted October 18, 2008 #2219 Share Posted October 18, 2008 Anybody who has been on the 8 day itinerary to the southern ports- which 2 days were formal nights? Crusin Karen Posted October 18, 2008 #2220 Share Posted October 18, 2008 It's always (usually! :p ) the lst sea day and the 2nd to the last sea day. If you sail Monday- following Tuesday, it's Tuesday and Sunday.

NCTribeFan Posted October 19, 2008 #2223 Share Posted October 19, 2008 I know Serene posted a link to pics of 6262. I just changed my booking from 5297 to 4230. I was just worried that it would be blisteringly hot too much of the time on Deck 5 aft and wanted a little more overhang. If I think it isn't sunny enough, I'll haul my butt up to the Orpheus pool. Does anyone have any picks of an aft non-wrap balcony on Deck 4? I realize it will look very much like 6262, but would still like to see actual photos. Did a search on Webshots and didn't find any, but I searched specifically for 4230. I'll try again and be a little less specific.

sandytoesrose Posted October 19, 2008 #2225 Share Posted October 19, 2008 I just found this post and was glad to hear there are other Miracle lovers. What's not to love about any cruise? I just booked our 2nd Miracle cruise. This will be our 9th cruise and I usually try to book a ship I haven't tried and visit a port we haven't been to. This time the itinerary won out because we'll be seeing Panama and Costa Rica. My hubby can't wait to go to Belize again so he can scuba dive. We had no trouble deciding on this 8 day cruise because we enjoyed the Miracle so much 3 years ago on our family cruise. I won't have my siblings and son with me on this cruise, but I'm really looking forward to being on the Miracle again. I hope we won't be disappointed because our expectations are so high. What I'm looking forward to: the reuben sandwiches in the lido deli, the sushi bar, the coffee bar, the Bacchus dining room (yes I liked the crazy ceiling), Frankie and Johnny's lounge (hope they have live music). The down side of taking a repeat cruise is that the shows will be the same - not to worry - we'll be in the lounges or the casino!
