Sundagger Posted September 24, 2007 #1 Share Posted September 24, 2007 Lately I've been seeing agencies offer an "Onboard Value Booklet" for certain HAL sailings. What is included in these coupon books? If they are two for one offers, it wouldn't help me since I'll be traveling solo.

I frequently cruise Solo as well, so 2-for-1s wouldn't be that much of a help for me, either.

Sundagger Posted September 24, 2007 Author #4 Share Posted September 24, 2007 Hope this works - check this out: http://neilbauman.cachefly.net/HAL_special.pdf Thanks for the link. Apparently there are two value booklets - this one was for $340 (alleged value) for cruises outside North/Central America. There is another one worth $140 (or so) for the cruises I was looking at. They probably are comparable in many ways - and not worth those values in my situation. Thanks again.
Krazy Kruizers Posted September 24, 2007 #5 Share Posted September 24, 2007 We have never gotten any of the booklets for anything and when I mentioned them to our TA - she checked -- we still will not be getting them on any of our future cruises. peaches from georgia Posted September 24, 2007 #8 Share Posted September 24, 2007 Most of the items you are only getting something off the price, so you would really have to want to buy it to begin with to use the coupon. It's a promotion book to induce you to buy.

I think I'd rather have a $57 OBC. I know what you mean. You might be able to use something, but would you have bought it without the coupon that made it look like a value of sorts? Maybe yes, maybe no. Of course that is the point of the booklet- to get you to buy what you might not have bought without the coupon and HAL is still making a profit. :)
JimVrhovac Posted September 25, 2007 #11 Share Posted September 25, 2007 Please do not show this to Ruth as she will buy everthing they have in there and tell me how much money she saved me. After she has spend several hundred dollars on stuff that we do not need or will never use.... HELP Jim ( without Ruth)

Sundagger Posted September 25, 2007 Author #13 Share Posted September 25, 2007 My reaction too. I only got to about $35. I was hoping to trade my cigar for a couple of packs of cigarettes.:D Last cruise I got a free bottle of "sparkling white wine" - I managed to trade that for a $15 credit on a bottle of decent chardonnay.
Krazy Kruizers Posted September 25, 2007 #14 Share Posted September 25, 2007 If I were to get that coupon book - $7.50 for 10 minutes of Internet - of course I know that I will still be charged a $3.95 activation fee if I don't buy another plan. Pinnacle Grill - $10.50 glass of champagne free - what only I get a glass and DH has to pay for his?
