The only event that is going on during your stay is Goombay fest in Bahama Village. It is a Caribbean food and music fest located on Petronia St just off Duval Street. It runs from noon to midnight Friday and Saturday...but go early if you dont like crowds!

As for other must sees...there is the Butterfly Museum, Mel Fisher's Maritime Museum, Hemingways house...plus the Conch Train is a great way to see the whole island. Have fun!

The new Mote Marine Eco Discovery Center at the end of Southard St. is really nice and very interesting if you are concerned with the environment. I went over this morning and it is very well done and the best part is it is all free.

There is an awesome 20 minute film produced by the maker of "Free Willy" inside the center.

How far is it from where the ships dock? How do you get there?

Probably a 20 min walk. Just walk down Duval St to Southard St (there is a big black clock on the corner) turn right and keep walking down Southard until you see the Eco Discovery Center on your right.

Hmmm...we were thinking of taking the trolley so maybe one of the stops will put us close to the Center.
