Haylilli Posted October 15, 2007 #1 Share Posted October 15, 2007 If you are already booked in a mini-suite or Pentouse suite does NCL offer offer an upgrade or upsell (if the opportunity presented itself)? We have been told through NCL that they do not offer upgrades or upsells if you are already in a suite. I this true?
texaspring Posted October 15, 2007 #2 Share Posted October 15, 2007 I had an upsell on last year from Penthouse to Owners Suite. I have also had an upsell from mini-suite to Owner's Suite. It depends on availability.
travelin okies Posted October 15, 2007 #3 Share Posted October 15, 2007 We also were booked in a Penthouse Suite (PofAM deparature 9/29/07) and got a nice offer for upsell to Owners Suite through an "inventory manager" who called our local TA. At the time they called, about 30 days from sailing I think, there were 7 OS to choose from. We did take one and were very pleased with what we got for the money. We heard that two weeks later the entire ship was sold out. I agree, availability is the key. Good luck.

We were booked in an AE (aft penthouse) and were offered an upsell to the Deluxe Owner's Suite on the Pearl.

Leafpeeper Posted October 16, 2007 #6 Share Posted October 16, 2007 We are booked in an inside cabin because nothing else is available. The price just dropped $50 after final payment. Have you ever gotten an onboard credit after a price drop this late? I'm not expecting anything--just wondering.
babynurse06 Posted October 16, 2007 #7 Share Posted October 16, 2007 We just got an upgrade from an AF to an AB on the Gem for our upcoming cruise. They called us weekend before last, so it's obviously not true.

Can we not start another 300 reply thread about this policy? Please? Now, back to the Upgrade/Upsell question. Yes, I have heard of people getting upsell to Garden Villa from Suites. Not us. BenP Posted October 16, 2007 #9 Share Posted October 16, 2007 Last week we had a upsell from AC to the Owners Suite. Hated to give up that AC but my wife won me over with the hot tub on our deck.

We were told also since we were booked through a TA and not NCL the likelyhood was slim to none. Not that we are unhappy with our selections but felt like we were penalized if we booked through anyone else other than NCL. Again thank you. We;ve been upgraded on every cruise so far (only 6 but still) and we've used a TA on all of them. I really wish people wouldn't give definitive answers if they don't know for sure. sharlon Posted October 16, 2007 #13 Share Posted October 16, 2007 We leave on Oct. 28th on the Pearl. Booked an AF minisuite. Just got a call to upsell to a A4 Suite for $664 total. Now I'm trying to decide whether to tell DH or surprise him on sail date.
mortysmama Posted October 16, 2007 #14 Share Posted October 16, 2007 We're booked in a mini-suite for our Bermuda trip in May on the Dawn. We've booked thru a TA. This will be our 4th NCL cruise and have never been offered an upsell. I would LOVE to have the chance to have an upsell. I know it's really the luck of the draw...but... if it were going to happen...when would we hear about an upsell and from whom? Is there anything we can do to make it more of a possibility? Should I mention to my TA that I'm definitely interested? Just wondering. Jackie

I have to say I wasn't disappointed. ;)

Didn't happen on our last Dawn cruise though, but we still had a great cruise. I hope your first cruise will be wonderful, and all you expect. MrLee Posted October 17, 2007 #21 Share Posted October 17, 2007 Mr Lee, how could you be soooo lucky? An upgrade every time. Do you know the winning lottery numbers? I usually buy early, buy cheap and watch how the ship seems to be filling up. Except for the 1st and last ones, I called my TA whenever I saw a price reduction and mostly got upgrades instead of reductions. ;)

We've never been to Hawaii either, but I think a cruise would be a perfect way to experience the different islands. It is a perfect anniversary celebration, hope you have many more. cruise4kicks Posted October 17, 2007 #25 Share Posted October 17, 2007 We've never been to Hawaii either, but I think a cruise would be a perfect way to experience the different islands. I used to live on Oahu, and I'm taking my DH back there next year for a reunion. Even though I lived there, we're taking the cruise so he can get a taste of several of the islands! I thought this would be preferable to spending three or four days each on three different islands -- that way we'd have to skip at least one of the islands the cruise hits. And, the only way to see the lava hit the sea is either from the air or from the sea! Can't wait to see that by night!!!
