elou Posted October 19, 2007 #1 Share Posted October 19, 2007 Want to do Coral in March; but was wondering if ships are having trouble going to Cartagena. Really want to see this port, but wondered if ships have more trouble than luck going to this port due to their frequent unrest. Appreciate any help. chrysalis Posted October 19, 2007 #2 Share Posted October 19, 2007 I recall someone posting here in the last week or so, that they did stop there (first Princess ship to do so in a long time) and how much they enjoyed the day. If you do a search, you just might find the thread
49er Posted October 19, 2007 #3 Share Posted October 19, 2007 We were there on the Coral last week. No problems what so ever. Check this link for more info http://boards.cruisecritic.com/showthread.php?t=611572 49er
Diamondring Posted October 19, 2007 #4 Share Posted October 19, 2007 I just checked the Island Princess webcam http://www.princess.com/bridgecams/island_bridge_cam.html and they are there right now. :)
jmcruiser Posted October 19, 2007 #5 Share Posted October 19, 2007 I too have been watching the webcam and the Coral did not stop in Cartagena this trip (at least according to the webcam). The should have been there on the 15th, but the webcam showed them at sea.
ggprincess2004 Posted October 19, 2007 #6 Share Posted October 19, 2007 they were stopping in Cartagena per the itinerary, but that is a port that might be changed if the cruiseline deems it too risky. We have sailed the Panama Canal several times over the past years, and never made the stop even though it was originally scheduled. If we stop on our April/May 08 Canal transit/repo it will be a first for us. For us, the Coral and the canal are the highlights, other than just being on a cruise ship. We would rather be safe than sorry, so if they switch that port out the disappointment will be minor and won't ruin our trip. Do hope that if it is one of the ports that is really meaningful for you, you do get a chance to see it!:)
LidoLiz Posted October 19, 2007 #7 Share Posted October 19, 2007 We were on the same cruise as 49er a week ago and loved the stop in Cartagena and the walking tour. Here are some pictures I took from inside the walled "old" downtown... hope these show you the beauty of this place.... _____ LidoLiz

TM Posted October 20, 2007 #9 Share Posted October 20, 2007 We also are just off the Coral and also did the walking tour of old Cartagena and it was wonderful. This was a tour booked through the ship and our tour guide was great. The walled city is so full of history. This was our second trip to this lovely port and we really enjoyed ourselves and felt very safe. They really pulled out all the stops and made all of feel very welcome to their city. Liza, your pictures were great, we haven't yet found the time to get ours downloaded.
leonadeb Posted October 21, 2007 #10 Share Posted October 21, 2007 We are on the Coral in January and just booked all our excursions except Cartagena....we were leary about getting off the ship there and will probably make that decision during the cruise. Colo Cruiser Posted October 21, 2007 #11 Share Posted October 21, 2007 Due to the absence of Princess stopping in Cartagena over the last few years I think Princess will evaluate it on a weekly basis and could change at any time. :)

bjkTX Posted October 21, 2007 #13 Share Posted October 21, 2007 why some topics just never seem to get resolved, why people just don't see the same thing the same way. I give you Post #4 & 5 of this thread :-) #4: I just checked the Island Princess webcam http://www.princess.com/bridgecams/i...ridge_cam.html and they are there right now. #5: I too have been watching the webcam and the Coral did not stop in Cartagena this trip (at least according to the webcam).
