Smoking on Princess

Can't answer about the smoking but I can about the bold print.

When you post a new thread, the title will not appear to you as bold print, until other people post to the thread. But to other people it does appear in bold print.

Thank you - this is the best forum to get news/info

Didn't a thread just like this recently get deleted?

Sorry if I have stepped on anyone's toes but I did not see anything in the guidelines re this.

Pls correct me if I am wrong.

Was just posting a general query.

This forum, I believe, is to ask questions and discuss cruise topics. This has been discussed over and over, but if you are new here you would not know.

Please continue to ask questions. I don't post often, but love to read all of the questions and answers that come up on the board.

The touchy subjects are formal nights and smoking.

All Cruise Lines have different smoking policies, this was a legitimate question and shoudn't have gotten harsh responses.

If these questions seem redundant, get used to it, that's what this forum is all about, quote the policy nicely or don't respond at all. :)

I've been over in other threads lately and didn't know what Princess's Policy was myself. :)

R & C, Welcome to Cruise Critic! Sometimes people's answers are a little too curt, don't let it hurt your feelings.

We just got off the Coral Princess, and there weren't a lot of people smoking.

It used to be that Princess designated one side of the ship as smoking and one side non-smoking - I can't remember which is which, I just look to see if there are ashtrays on the tables and go to the other side.

Princess does have a smoking lounge called Churchill's that is entirely enclosed in glass off the atrium. It is said to be a cigar lounge, but cigarettes are smoked there as well as on the Promenade deck.

Point taken - only new to CC so did not know this was previously discussed & removed.

Thank you for advising me of this.

no problem. i didn't mean to be harsh to you. some posters have a complusion to turn a very simple and legitimate question into a debate on the virtues (or lack thereof) of smoking.

I certainly hope you didn't think my reply was harsh. Just a question, I actually was enjoying that thread, nothing wrong with a good spirited discussion. Even funnier when people are flat out wrong yet would like their attitudes and opinions forced on everyone else.

Cheryl, don't let a few crabbies upset you. Of course new people on these boards don't realize these questions have been asked over and over, nor are the documents and brochures always up to date.

OMG (The G is for Goodness so as not to upset anyone) Please, may the Ghost of Davy Jones rise up and smite (or is it smote) all of these sooooo very polite replies. "I didn't mean to sound grumpy", "please forgive my inexperience", "I wasn't trying to be harsh" I swear I'm going to hurl and not from a rocking vessel. Someone new asked a question...it has been posted before, but how would they know. So someone replies and someone else gets honked off because they perceived the reply to be rude. Meanwhile the poor original questioner is stuck in the middle of a Dear Miss Manners war of words. Please, I'm begging you, stop taking yourselves so serious. It's a MESSAGE BOARD ABOUT CRUISES, not the War of the Roses. We've got a cruise scheduled for June and I'll be reading fairly regularly between now and then but if the first few exchanges Ive seen are any indication of the dialog, I won't make the cruise because the adrenalin will have shot out of my ears. just before my head explodes. By the way is there smoking on the port or starboard side of the ship or fore or aft?:) Happy Trails to all. Pacem en terris to all...ooops I forgot you don't speak Latin as do I, so to all Peace on Earth

Warmest personal regards....Plum-friggin-loco

Just off an Emerald Princess 10-day cruise. Smoking is allowed in your cabin, on your balcony, and on any open deck on the port side of the ship. There is also the "Speakeasy", a cigar-smoking lounge where people smoke cigarettes as well. There many be certain areas in some of the other lounges for smokers as well.

Now I will ask, how about the casino?
