Rare many cruises Posted November 22, 2007 #1 Share Posted November 22, 2007 We will be in Barbados in March on the Crown Princess & have been reading about the Wildlife Preserve there. For those who have been there & done that...please give us some more details. Also, if anyone has any pictures that would be great too! ;)

We went there during our "Best of Barbados" tour with Glory Tours. You are welcome to view my pictures and review located in my signature line. This was a great experience! :)
cinnam0n Posted November 23, 2007 #3 Share Posted November 23, 2007 We loved the Wildlife Reserve in March. It was amazing how close you could get to the animals! We had Cameron Reid take us there. You can look at my pictures here http://community.webshots.com/user/cinnam0n57, under Norwegian Pearl 3/16/07. The Barbados pictures are on page 6 of that album. cinnam0n Posted November 23, 2007 #5 Share Posted November 23, 2007 I forgot to mention that their website is http://barbadosmonkey.dhc-ltd.com/. It doesn't appear to be working at the moment - maybe they are working on it. Also, admission is $11.50 US.
shygirl Posted November 26, 2007 #6 Share Posted November 26, 2007 How much does it cost for taxi? We have six in our group and HAL wants $59 each for this excursion. Could we take a public bus?
cinnam0n Posted November 28, 2007 #7 Share Posted November 28, 2007 Cameron charged us $30pp (5 of us) but that included some scenic stops on the way and on the way back from the reserve. It did not, however, include admission to the park, which is $11.50US. Before we went, I inquired about taking the bus, but everyone who responded told me that the buses weren't very punctual, especially when you needed to get back to the port at a certain time. Maybe someone else has actually experienced it.
sas80 Posted December 5, 2007 #8 Share Posted December 5, 2007 Can anyone give me some information on this type of a tour and whom I would/could book it thru? http://barbadosmonkey.dhc-ltd.com/ is still not working.
cinnam0n Posted December 6, 2007 #9 Share Posted December 6, 2007 Well, there are several companies and individuals mentioned in this thread. Most cruiselines have an excursion that goes to the Wildlife Reserve, but it is probably cheaper to just get a taxi to take you there. As I said before, Cameron Reid took us, and we really liked him. His website and contact information is scenicbarbados.com.

His website and contact information is scenicbarbados.com. I believe I'm right in saying that the admission fee to Wildlife Reserve also gets you admission to the nearby historic British Army Signal Station at Grenade Hall. Also, right across the road is Farley Hill a park surrounding the ruins of an old elegant country manor with a great view from the little bandstand/gazebo up on the rise to the East not to mention the cooling breezes there, at about 800 ft. elevation. Do this Farley Hill cool-out bit last, and don't forget that camera.
cinnam0n Posted December 6, 2007 #12 Share Posted December 6, 2007 You're right aplmac, admission is good for both places. We didn't take the time to go over to Grenade Hall since we had plans for later in the afternoon. Since the reserve's website is still not working, you can also find info here http://barbados.org/reserve.htm.
debsite Posted December 28, 2007 #13 Share Posted December 28, 2007 cinnam0n, Pardon my ignorance, but where were the waterfall pictures taken? They are just beautiful. I went to see the wildlife preserve but loved these pictures! We are on the Jewel in March, and I'm hoping your stop was one of ours! Thanks, Debbie
cinnam0n Posted December 30, 2007 #14 Share Posted December 30, 2007 The waterfall on page 4 of the album is Trafalgar Falls, on the island of Dominica. The one on page 8 is at the Botanical Gardens on St. Lucia, which we went to as part of Cosol's tour. They are both beautiful sites, that's for sure! debsite Posted December 31, 2007 #15 Share Posted December 31, 2007 Thank you so much!! The Jewel will visit both of those on our trip, so I'll have to flip through your album again to see which one to visit!! Thank you so much for replying! cinnam0n Posted January 6, 2008 #18 Share Posted January 6, 2008 Thanks for the updated website! The old url was from last spring when I was researching for our cruise - they must have changed it since then.
