Thursday Night Game - Packers vs Cowboys

My husband and I are sailing on the Mariner (leaving this sunday) and there is a Football Game (Packers - Cowboys Game) that is only broadcast on the NFL network, which is satellite. Does anyone know if this game will be broadcast on board and if so where? My husband is a die hard packer fan and does not want to miss the game.

If nothing else we will take our satellite radio and he can listen to it.

Thanks.

You'd better TiVo it! More than likely, it will NOT be shown! (They do show alot of soccer, tho!)

In this case cb at sea is probably correct. If the game were on ESPN or one of the major networks, however, you would stand a very good chance of seeing it. When you get onboard, check with guest relations to see if there is any chance that they will be allowed to broadcast it. (It probably would require RCI to pay a premium to NFL network in order to show the game. If it is available you will probably be able to see it in any of the public rooms that have tvs or in your stateroom. We have watched many NFL and MLB games in the sports lounges and in our staterooms onboard RCI ships.:) Back home, a lot of cable systems do not include the NFL network, or place it in a premium tier which requires subscribers to pay an additional premium, so many fans will be unable to watch the game as well. In coming weeks, the Patriots will be in the situation and locally, many Comcast subscribers will be shut out from viewing the game. Fortunately Verizon FIOS and DirecTV both carry the NFL network.:)

Not sure where you cruise is going, but it might be on tv. The above posters are correct that NFL network is only on Direct TV, however, this is only in the US. The game may well be on Latin American ESPN.

Does your satellite radio work outside the US? My understanding was that it only works in CONUS.

Just to correct some previous posts, Comcast certainly has the NFL channel (regular and HD) in the Chicago area. Its in there Sports package for $7/month.

Correct but Comcast, unlike Verizon FIOS and DirecTV, has placed it in a premium tier and charges $7 a month extra for its subscribers to be able to see games on it. In the Boston area, however, one of the over the air channels (Channel 5) will carry the Patriots game when it is on NFL network, so it won't be necessary to pay the extra charge to see the game.:)

To anyone expecting to see the Oakland-Packers game, it may depend what time the game is played and what other games are being played at the time. They won't show every game that is played only the ones getting the widest distribution at 1PM and the national game on at 4. They should carry the Sunday and Monday night games.
