Is this too formal for formal nights

No one could possibly be "too" formal on formal night! I mean, that's why they call it formal!

We normally sail shorter cruises and are looking forward to 2 formal nights in a couple of weeks (other than packing issues). DD has 2 full-length satin dresses - one in purple and one in bright red. I'm insisting she take both. She also has a cocktail-length bridesmaid dress from a wedding this summer that she's taking for the night we eat in the supper club.

I'm still shopping for a "bargain" fancy dress. Last year, I wore a mandarin-style jacket (gold/orange/green/white) with wide-legged white satin trousers. It was definitely different and I got several compliments.

I was going to take the dress I wore in my cousins wedding. I've been on 6 cruises but I can't remember if this would be too fancy.

I commend your cousin for having great taste!!!

(and for picking out dresses for the bridesmaids that could actually be used again)

You will look wonderful.
