Jacket for Cruise to Hawaii in February?

Since we will be leaving from Houston (flying to LAX), we may or may not need a jacket for travel. But I'm wondering about what type of jacket would be good on deck as I understand the first few days may be cold and windy.

I have a fleece pullover and a scarf that kept me very warm when we were in Alaska in August of 2007.

 

The pullover takes up less room than a jacket.

You may need a light jacket that can double as a rain jacket. Are you interested in going up to see the valcano? If so the pullover is a great idea as it is cold on the mountain (10,000 ft up). Many people had to stop and buy a sweat top from the gift store at inflated prices. I alway brought my pullover for the mountain tops. I just tied it around my waist until I needed it.

Yes, the first two days out of Los Angeles will be quite cool and breezy. I would bring a wind breaker and either a fleece or sweater.

The winds are quite bad while the ship is underway---we just don't go out at night into the wind! (It messes up my hair!) A light jacket will suffice.

Don't forget the wind chill factor when out on deck. You may be sailing into the wind and it will feel a lot colder.

I just got back from Hawaii two weeks and the first two days and the last two days were chilly and cool. I had one of those light weight sweat outfits and it worked wonderfully. Also it worked for the Volcano National Park where they say bring warm clothing. I also had a light sweater and that worked out very well.

We were on the OCt 19th RT Hawaii on Diamond, and there are a few chilly days at sea, I brought a lined windbreaker, worked good on deck as well as at the volcano where it rained a little. Great Trip you will enjoy your cruise.
