Historical tour/plantation?

Want to see a bit of the history of plantation life while on our cruise. We will be in St. Marteen, Antigua, Barbados, St. Lucia, Tortola and it looks like Barbados is our best bet for some history - we have already done Nelson's Dockyards, Shirley Heights and Betty's Hope in Antigua a couple of years ago. Is there a particular better place to go for history/plantation visit that anyone would recommend? I also really want to go to Crane's Beach but don't know if it would be feasible to combine the two? Thanks all.

Barbados: you're in luck. :)

SUNBURY HOUSE is on the way to The Crane!

Sunbury House is an old plantation house that Keith Melville turned into a museum

devoted to the 'plantocracy' way of life,

including a few farm instruments and equipment of the period...stored outside of the house.

Nice grounds...not fab...but nice.

They also have a bar

and I think you might have Lunch there too,

but since you'd be continuing on to The Crane,

you may want to save your appetite for The Crane.

You should like Sunbury. Several coach tours go thru there.

Not far away is The Crane...so you definitely need to do those two!

Barbados also has a small national Museum,

near the old British Army GARRISON area which may also be worth a look.

In this order you'd want to do them...

1. Barbados Museum at the Garrison

(Taxi driver will know what I'm talking about),

2. then Sunbury House,

3. then The Crane.
