mariemorgan Posted December 3, 2007 #2 Share Posted December 3, 2007 I hate that all the sailings offers (for today and tomorrow) are only for the first part of 2008!!!
jaja Posted December 3, 2007 #3 Share Posted December 3, 2007 AND--they hardly ever include any sailings from NYC in the sales!!!!:(
fozzy Posted December 3, 2007 Author #4 Share Posted December 3, 2007 NYC sailings are so hot. They never have a problem selling them and at a favorable (to the cruiseline) price. It's no wonder that they're never on sale.

stellatj Posted December 3, 2007 #6 Share Posted December 3, 2007 will there be any specials from galveston?
firefly333 Posted December 3, 2007 #7 Share Posted December 3, 2007 will there be any specials from galveston? Im in Texas too. I did find ONE date the $100 off applied to from New Orleans, even though its not what I would even call a bargain rate I clicked through on Fantasy and the $100 off only applies to inside and OVs, not all categories, not suites even. You would think it would apply to the more expensive categories too. I figured I could drive from here to New Orleans. It would have to be a super duper bargain out on the Fantasy to lure me away from Galveston. When I read it I assumed the $100 off was for any sailing, but if you click thru its only for limited availability. I was cruising during the sale last year so maybe I only thought the sale was good because I missed it last year, but so far Im pretty dissapointed. maxamuus Posted December 3, 2007 #8 Share Posted December 3, 2007 Interior Oceanview Balcony cARNIVAl PRIDE 7 Day Long Beach (LAX) 03/09/08 $629 $729 $879 I dont see the "savings". Im booked the week before this in a Balcony at a rate of 629.00 plus taxes and fees. Why would i want to pay 250 dollars more to save 200 ? Why would i want to pay 250 dollars more to save 200 ? What is the current price for the cruise? The sail isnt intended to get booked pax a better rate, its done to get new business. maxamuus Posted December 4, 2007 #10 Share Posted December 4, 2007 My agent is showing a price of 679. I guess my point is this is like when the grocery stores jack up the price 50% and then have a buy one get one free sale. It reality you arent saving Jack but it makes you feel good cause you think you got a bargin.

Often TAs only show the commisionable portion of the price then tack on the non-commisionables afterwards.

For someone that has been waiting to book, sounds like they can save $50, thats better than a poke in the eye :) Again the sale isnt for people that are already booked. So of course if you booked month ago your price will be lower. Also it impossible to compare your cruise with a cruise the following week...it goes back to supply and demand. :)

The exact cost of Carnivals balcony with the 200 OBC. I was never good at math but it sure seems like you are paying for that 200 OBC not Carnival. fozzy Posted December 4, 2007 Author #14 Share Posted December 4, 2007 I think the price is based on cruise rate and port charges for a category 8A. which if you booked that right now it would be $829. Tomorrow it looks like it will be $879. Considering they'll probably offer a $100 OBC per cabin. It works out to be the same. CCL does that quite often with OBC. Right now the Balcony GTY is the best deal. But there is a great senior rate with upgrades. Also a decent past guest with upgrades. But the OBC will not be applicable with these rates. At least they usually aren't.
