Beverage Questions!?!?!

Hi Folks,

I have several beverage related questions:

1. I know they allow water, soda and wine on board. Can I bring Gatorade or a like product?

2. What is the beer that's available on the Zuiderdam?

3. I want to order a bottle of liqour for my room. Should I do it once I'm on the ship or is it okay to order it now?

Thanks so much!

Cristina :D

1. ANY beverages except beer and hard liquor are allowed.

2. Since the following can be pre-ordered, I assume all are available on the ship: Bud, Bud Lt, Miller, Miller Lt, Heinekin, Amstel Lt, and Corona. I think many ships have Grolsch also.

3. Since the prices are no different, and foul-ups sometimes happen with things ordered on-line, I suggest you wait until you're on the ship.

Sorry, I also have a question about soda... I was just curious as to whether or not soda is offered at dinner and if they charge you extra if you order a soda at dinner.

I think I can go throughout the day drinking regular coffee, tea or water, but if I could get a soda with my dinner, I'd be very happy. I don't really want to buy a drink card as I don't plan on drinking that much.

Thanks for your replies.

No free soda at dinner - you have to buy it by the can.

3. It's okay to order it now so it will be in your cabin when you arrive.

We always call Ship Services and order a bottle for our cabin.

If you are sailing out of Ft Lauderdale - an extra 6% Florida tax will be added in addition to the 15% gratuity tax. Even if you wait until you are on the ship - same tax applies until you are 10 miles out to see.

SO - the only time we wait to buy a bottle for our cabin is when we sail out of Ft Lauderdale and then order it in the evening once we have left the port.

I'm certainly not "bicker", but I suppose you could say I'm "Mrs. Bicker." :)

I rarely log in, but love this site for the very helpful people here.

Ooops! I thought I had my personal avatar on this forum to separate myself from my hubby. I'll go change that right now!

.....as we are brand new to HAL. What's the approximate cost of - say, a bottle of JB Scotch, for in-room enjoyment....?

Unfortunately I don't know the quantities of these bottles, but some prices on the HAL site are:

Cutty Sark 32.20

Ballantine's 40.25

J&B Rare 36.80

J. Walker Red 36.80

J. Walker Black 77.05

Chivas Regal 12 yo 66.20

You can get all of the liquor prices by going to the HAL "booked guest" page (Guests) and choosing Order On-board gifts. You will have to register a username and password. :)

Do you have to have cash with you? Or does that get charged to your room?
Everything goes on your shipboard account except cash tips you may want to give out (room service, for example) and the casino. (You can also get casino chips put on your account for a 3% fee, just like you were drawing cash there or at the front desk, but the slot machines are straight cash.)
