10 pm sail away, embarcation?

We are sailing out of San Juan, departing at 10pm. This is a first for us, usually the ships have sailed at 5 and we can get on the ship around noon. The cruise line is telling us that embarcation will be at 7 pm. That seems really late to get everyone and their luggage on the ship. Has anyone sailed out of San Juan, Puerto Rico at 10 and can let us know what time they start letting passengers on the ship?

It would help if we knew what cruiseline and ship. Usually cruises out of San Juan start boarding between 11 and 12 but it really depends on the cruiseline and the ship.

Yes, please provide more specifics on the cruise line. You will likely be able to get on the ship around 12:00 Noon.

 

They leave so late bacause some folks travel the day of the cruise and the various ports are not far from eachother.

 

You will get on much earlier and there will be dinner in the dining room; early and late seating.

im thinking its princess. ive heard about the crown princess embarking at night. i dont think its too uncommon. i was on the crown and we stopped in old san juan back in may. we left from san juan at about midnight and it was awesome seeing all the lights and the atmosphere at midnight was no different than any mid afternoon embarkation ive ever been on.

We were on the Regal Princess last year from San Juan. We sailed at 10pm, but boarding started about noon. We arrived about 3pm and the rush was already over.
