There are 1 or 2 shallow shipwrecks in Carlisle Bay, and I'm pretty sure someone will get you over there.

 

Nothing/not-much in the way of reefs,however - sorry

but the wrecks attract lotsa marine life

Boatyard is affiliated w/ Heat Wave catamaran - we did this in early Dec and went to 3 snorkle stops - open bar and wonderful lunch - it was great - and if you have time when you get back you don''t have to pay to use the boatyard stuff

We were there a couple of years ago. We took a taxi from the ship, just a short trip. You pay an admission fee - very minimal, maybe $10-15 ea, which included a coupon for about $5 for drink or food. The beach is great and there are tons of water toys that are included in the price, kayaks, huge water trampoline, climbing wall in the water, rope for jumping off the pier into the water, etc. Great changing/rest rooms. It can't be beat for the money. Also has a really nice bar with music and food. We're going there again in Jan. 09 and can't wait! And...yes I believe there was snorkeling. :D

Boatyard IS a good deal - that's why it's so popular!

And it's on a two-mile-long curve of Carlisle Bay's white sandy beach,too.

 

If you want lobster or seafood for lunch, there's Lobster Alive

right next door, 50-100 yds. from where your Boatyard beach umbrella is set up.

You'll notice Lobster Alive has its own grouping of similar umbrella's

just up the beach from Boatyard's grouping.

So did you book this when you went to the Boatyard or did you book it before your cruise? Do you remember the cost? Thanks!

How far Boatyard from where the ship docks??? Can you walk, or do you need to take a taxi???

I have read it is about a 10 minute taxi ride but someone might have better info than me

How far is The Boatyard from the cruise Terminal?

The Boatyard is about 3 - 5 mins drive depending on traffic. There is a Taxi stand outside of the cruise Terminal. If you choose to walk, it is about 15 - 20 mins depending on your pace.

 

How much for a Taxi?

Taxi fares are regulated by the Barbados Government and are pre-set to where your final destination will be, meaning all the Taxis should quote you the same fare. The taxi rate to The Boatyard from the Cruise Terminal is US$3.00 one-way. When you enter the Boatyard, included is your return transportation to the Cruise Terminal, leaving approx at 1:00pm at 15 mins intervals.

Am i missing something??? I can't find the price for getting into this place, does anyone know how much they charge???

Its $15 for admission which includes a drink - strawberry daiquiri or a

pina colada, chair and a cab ride back to the ship. The taxis are waiting

outside when your ready to leave so theres no waiting. Umbrellas are

available for a small fee can't remember if it was $2 or $5. Well worth

it because there's no shade except for under the pier. The ride from

ship is about 10 minutes with traffic. We were just there a few weeks ago.

We sailed on Carnival - we were last ship docking. This is a long pier which has a free shuttle when you exit ship to take you to the terminal where there's shop (nice ones too) you have to walk through to get to your excursions or taxi stand. The taxi stand is across the street once you

exit this building. We were approached by the guy coordinating the taxis

asked where we were going, he told us about another beach that was better than boatyard because jet skiing (which my kids wanted to do) was illegal at boatyard. This was a lie. Boatyard had lots of jet skis. Email me directly if you have any questions marianne.flynn@verizon.net

"Many like us will have used the facilities of the Boatyard on Carlyle Bay in Barbados.

However the prices are now extortionate.

$15 per person for what is essentially the use of a sunbed a 'free' drink and a taxi back to the ship. Oh they want an extra $2 for a parasol. If you have a couple of children with you, who will never use the sunbeds it is a dear day out.

The alternative! walk on a further 50 yards and enter the beach at the side of Lobsters Alive, here sunbeds are $5 each parasols $5 with a free drink with each. same sea, same sand, same sunshine, and far less noise. If you can't face the walk back to the ship, about a 20 minute stroll, a return taxi will only cost $3. Hope this helps, and that the guy who is giving a good deal is rewarded with more business.

Do think all of the fun water toys would be worth the extra cost though? I think there plenty of great beaches that offer great beach days... But we are considering the Boatyard both due to the atmosphere & the fun water toys.
