mattR Posted December 14, 2007 #1 Share Posted December 14, 2007 Has anyone gone to the Mexican Folkloric Fiesta in Ensenada? Can you buy tickets at the door or do you have to book through the cruise line? Is it in the building at the entrance to the pier?

HRHPrinceJim Posted December 26, 2007 #3 Share Posted December 26, 2007 Hello Matt, I've been on this shore excursion (as well as most of the others in Ensenada). I don't know if they sell tickets at the door because I booked it on the ship. The show takes place at the Riviera del Pacifico Cultural Center, located a few blocks from the pier. You can see it from the ship, a very large white building that looks like it could be a hotel or a casino. In fact, before gambling was outlawed in Mexico, it was a casino. Many actors and actresses from Hollywood went there. If you're interested in folkloric dances from several states of Mexico, you would enjoy this excursion. My advice would be to book it onboard as part of something else in Ensenada, such as a trip to La Bufadora. There are several good shore excursions that include two activities. Enjoy Ensenada. I'll be there this Saturday (December 29) and next Thursday (January 3) as part of back-to-back cruises on the Monarch of the Seas!
Crewmates Posted December 26, 2007 #4 Share Posted December 26, 2007 Hi Matt, We went did this as part of a tour in 2003 and really enjoyed it. We booked it through the ship and, if my memory hasn't failed me completely, the attendees were all part of a tour group or groups. I would be inclined to follow Jim's advice and book it aboard the ship if it is important to you to not miss the show. When we saw the show, I was impressed with the dancers. They seemed to enjoy entertaining you and put everything they had into the performance. In fact, my wife and I have been kicking around the idea of getting on the Monarch and doing this cruise again at the end of February of '08. I think we may be ready to go see this show again. Thanks for reminding us.
