SANDRAMARTINEZ Posted September 10, 2004 #1 Share Posted September 10, 2004 We are arriving at 6:00 a.m. on a redeye from California. We would like to go around NYC without having to carry around luggage. However, it would appear that we cannot board or place our luggage on the cruise ship until at least 12:00 p.m. We thought about checking into a hotel, but at $200.00 or more a night, it seems foolish to pay this much for just 4 hours of hotel. We have also considered renting a limo for 4 hours to tour around, but this will also run at least $200.00. Any suggestions?

trish1c Posted September 15, 2004 #4 Share Posted September 15, 2004 You don't say what AP you're flying into but if you simply move slowly, you won't have to wait too long to board the ship after your flight. If the plane lands at 6, be the last one off. You probably won't disembark until at least 6:30 -- 6:45 a.m. Stroll down to baggage claim, use the facilities etc. It will be 7-7:30 before you actually get your luggage. After you get your bags, go have breakfast in the AP. It's certainly not the least expensive option but there's a method to the madness. Assume you finish breakfast by 8:30-9:00 a.m. You have to actually get a car, bus or train to the port. Just getting that will take about 15-30 minutes. With traffic, it could take 30-45 minutes maybe even an hour to get to the port. Gee, it's 10:30 -- 11:00 already. If you have a privat car service, you might be able to get that person for a few extra $$$ to give you a short tour. By then it will be time to board. Hope that helps b/c I honestly don't know where you could store luggage. You might want to call NYC's dept of tourism. Enjoy.
gatour Posted September 22, 2004 #5 Share Posted September 22, 2004 Actually, you may want to consider having breakfast before picking up the bags. They will just pull them to the side if no picks them up in reasonable amout of time after flight arrival. Don't know if you cruise is leaving on the weekend or not. If it is during the week, it will take at least an hour to get from any of the airports to the terminal. But I think Trish1c has the right idea.
